I would recommend a download of 'CoolStreaming' (google it) a p2p Internet TV program that works on the lines of torrents where you share the program. A few channels on at th e mo and more to come.

ASX files asked me to save it on the hard disk. Once launched from the HD though, it worked beautifully in Windows Media Player.
Anything that uses Real Player goes straight to my Real Player Alternative, again works fine. Unfortunately, if Windows Media Player stream wants to play embedded on a web page, it asks me to download the latest WMP. Well it works fine as an ASX file on WMP 6.4, so bollox to WMP 9 or 10 or whatever number they're on now! At the moment, I'm doing a "view source" to hack the address of the ASX or MMS site. Then it works on WMP 6.4 fine. Monopolising Microsoft gits! But good list of sites there, Jim.

I found WMP9 more astheticly pleasing. WMP10 is too crowded.

Tried WMP 7, 9 and 10. Wasn't too keen. WMP 8 I've not tried, and actually seemed to be quite elusive. WMP 8 you don't hear too much about.
I've replaced Real Player and Quick Time with the Media Player Classic, downloadable as a separate program and resembles WMP 6.4.
