Cool diazepam

hi guys

hope someone may be able to give be a bit of advice. As some of you may know, i have suffered from panic attacks in the past. the last 6 months or so i have been better but still a bit scared of having another one.

so. my bf and i are going to oz next week (very excited..!) but i was a bit scared of the plane flight etc. i thought i would go and see the doc so i did and see if she could help.

basically i get scared if i feel my heart beating really quickly (i know it seems weird but i get really paranoid about it) so i thought i would go and see her and see if she could give me something.

she prescribed me diazepam (2mg) to calm me down but gave me very little info on how to take it (ie is it before the flight, during when i get scared or what) and there is no leaflet with the tablets.

i was just wondering if anyone had any info on this drug at all.

sorry if i have rambled on loads.

thanks very much

Diazepam is valium, but don't let that put you off, 2mg is such a teensy weensy dose, it'll help you to relax, without affecting you too much.

Do you get the increased heart rate during takeoff, or before you board? If it's the former, then take it when you get on the plane, if it's the latter, then take it in the departure lounge. If I were you I'd ring & ask to speak to your gp & ask her.

My husband had 5mg tabs as a muscle relaxant when his back was really bad.

5mg sends me to sleep lol, looks like you have an understanding doctor. I hope you have a fantastic time in Oz.

i work in a health food shop,so i know all about herbal remedies

i started to take kava kava when i suffered from anxiety, and it really helped. i still take it now, because it also helps with stress and as a person who worries excessively about everything it calms me down.

It's quite a popular herb, also used for social phobia (which i used to have badly) and can also help ease mild insomnia and depression.

Basically it's fantastic, a wonder herb i don't know how i would do without it.

I also recommended it 2 GFM and i think it worked ok for her when she was nervous about going up to manchester (sorry to bring it up).

The thing is, you should check with ur doc b4 u start taking it coz u are already taking the other stuff and sometimes it can clash n be pretty nasty. So just make sure its ok?

Have a gr8 time in oz

I've suffered from the skipped-beat and fast pulse since summer last year.
I didn't wanna go to my doctor (he's wierd) so I went to the library and read all I could find on it.
It turns out that stress plays a part, and your heart beating real quickly isn't dangerous.
Knowing that may help you to not worry about it so much? it helped me anyway..

thanks b_b_t_b...

its strange really, never really noticed my heartbeat until i had a panic attack after smoking cannabis last summer. i was scared that it would stop beating or something. i now know that this doesnt happen but it seems to be one of those things i have a mental block over....just gotta tell myself that im going to be ok i think.

my doctor looked at me a bit funny last week when i told her i was afraid of my heart beating quickly, so i didnt really like to pursue the subject....

thanks again for all your help.

well, i take it continuously, and i think you mite benefit from taking it continuously too. However it is one of the faster acting herbs, and you cantake it just when u are feeling anxious, but like i said if you are prone to anxiety & stress then its good all the time

Incidentally, the effects of panic are very similar to the effects of extreme excitement
