music

I want to move all my music from one computer to another, but i can seem to do it.

I tried a memory stick and dragged them across but when i took the memory stick out it says it couldn't locate the songs - which i should of expected

so lovely people of thesite. any ideas?

probably should point out most the songs are not bought from itunes so i can do it through my ipod.

If your tunes are in My Music (under My Documents), choose select all (CTRL-A) then copy (CTRL-C). Navigate to your memory stick and hit paste (CTRL-V). If the process takes more than a few minutes, then you know you've done the right thing. If it all happens in a flash, then it's not copying correctly.

Oh and of course, I hope that you're using Windows Explorer / My Computer :-) If you're using third party such as WMP or iTunes, then it gets messy and confusing. With Windows Explorer, all you need to be wary of are drive letters.

If you've set up a network an ethernet cable would work. Unfortunately it isn't as easy as just connecting 2 pcs together, not unless you've got windows 7.

As for the original problem, I can't imagine why it would give you that error message, not unless you're copying shortcuts across or something.
best way to do it would be to move all your music to one folder on your pc, then copy it to a memory stick.

you'd need a crossover cable to patch one PC directly to another PC.

If you don't know where the locations are, then open up drive C (or D if your data is on there), then open search (CTRL-F) and type *.mp3. That will show up the locations of your music.
