.She doesn't need to be told she's stupid. Because, ~*~with respect~*~, there is a difference between naivety and stupidity. Yes it's weird but it's also perfectly plausible that this guy could be genuine. Treating her like she's an idiot because she is trusting is not something she needs to be hearing.

And I'd insult you by calling you a big gay, but you'd just say "I know".
But when someone's being stupid, sometimes it's best to just tell them. Telling people what they want to hear isn't always the right way to go about things. |

girlwithscissors - I think waiting til you're 17 is a great idea. And if you still feel the same way then, you can be with him for a few years, and then if you still want to have babies, you'd be 19/20 and it wouldn't be such a crazy idea anymore. ![]()

now she's saying she'll be 17 when they meet...... by the way, what is a 23 year old man in the uk having sex with a 15 year old girl then? if it's not statutory rape, it must be legal then? HMM?

In the UK there's no offence that implies consent below the age of consent, which statutory rape essentially does (being a more commonly used American term used to describing consent sex involving someone below the legal age for sex). The way UK laws works in the that the CPS decide whether or not to prosecute a case and it's at this point they would make judgments around whether a prosecution was in anyone's best interest (such as deciding not to prosecute a 15 year old for kissing a 16 year, which is theoretically illegal under the 2003 Sexual Offences Act) So in the UK the offence would always be rape - there aren't different versions of the offence.

I thought the offence was "unlawful sexual intercourse"

Certainly not since 2003 -
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/Acts/acts2003..._20030042_en_1 the term was used in the description of crimes pre-2003 and I think still in some Scottish law - but the aim of the 2003 act was to clarify this postion and remove any terms that could be difficult to interpret. So it doesn't appear any more. But sorry, didn't want to drag this off-topic, just wanted to clarify the point around statutory rape

Actually turns out I'm slightly off in my reading - there is an offence of 'Sexual activity with a child' which covers the same ground but doesn't carry a possible life sentence, instead a maximum of 14 years.
But again, sorry this went off topic.
