Depends what your doing with it...
For everyday I have this in my kit - Prep-Prime Face-Protect SPF-50
For an evening I have this: Prep & prime skin exactly the same as the other one but without the SPF (which causes bleach spots in photos)
For eyes I use painterly (which is a paintpot by MAC, maybe a pro product, let me know if it is I'll see what I can do because I have a pro account with them being a make artist in training)
Illamasqua also do good ones, I don't rate urban decay primers (although some people do but I've had them and found them to be useless).
I know they're not cheap but if you use a brush (a foundation brush is best) to apply them they go quite far, and they're worth it because they set the base for your make up.
I'm going to IMATS at the beginning of Feb so if you haven't gotten anything by then I'll see if I can come up with any other brands that I've tried.
Make up Alley is always good for reviews on products.

Nope, it's a regular MAC product. I love Painterly
. Also iirc you can call the Pro stores to order stuff?
Also for eyes try Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance (you can buy that from Debenhams (I think?) online, also ASOS sell it). Less thick, just as amazing.
My face primer is a Makeup Forever HD Primer, which I bought from a shop online called PAM. Can't remember the web address but I'll have a look later on. It's green, so it gets rid of all the redness on your face, but they do regular ones too....there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.

I can order pro stuff over the phone or online with my discount...I've got Illamasqua discount too. MAC are stingy with their discount and it only lasts til march, plus their customer service stinks!
Oh and Fix+ by MAC is also very good for keeping make up on the face, you spray that on afterwards.
Are you using powder to set you make up? that will help too.Life is a hard race

Yeah, but I meant that people without the card can order over the phone, right?
Also: Fix+ doesn't actually help keep makeup on, it just stops everything looking powdery. It's literally just water with a bit of glycerine in it, if I remember rightly.
That said, I think Ben Nye do one which would be good for that, because they do stage makeup (oh man, how I want a Ben Nye fairy to come and visit me!). I think it's called Final Cut or something?
Eta: that website: http://www.preciousaboutmakeup.com/

http://www.preciousaboutmakeup.com/m...ever-hd-primer The primer I use. Don't be put off by the price, it last for-fucking-ever....there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.

Nope, I think "mere mortals" (not my words!) can only do it online, but I could be wrong...doesn't mean I can't do it for you! Nope, Fix+ does help make up stay on longer, and its got more than glycerine in it. Mixing medium is just water + glycerine! We make it ourselves at college.

Sometimes I use beauty flash balm by Clarins under make up, not sure this is the type of product you mean?
http://www.clarins.co.uk/Beauty%20Fl...opsellers_face
They often give it away with their deals which explains why I have three tubes of it but have never bought any!Blessed are the cracked for they let in the light.

Beauty balms are more like serums rather than primers...unless they have a tint in which case they are more like foundations...

Just remembered to prove you wrong about this
.
From the MAC website:
"An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up".
Says nothing about helping makeup stay on. It's a finisher, stops shit looking powdery and is basically just posh water.
Doesn't even work for me, either. It just gives me a kind of "you've just been out in the rain" finish....there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.

Works well for me, but I'm using heavy photographic-style bases, which probably have better staying power anyway...
