    Hey Shaunie,

Sad to hear things are so full-on at the moment. Everything sounds pretty overwhelming.

That feeling of not being understood can be a crippling one, and particularly with something as widely misunderstood as depression. I know it doesn't always feel like it, and when it doesn't it really really sucks, but there are people out there who 'get' it much more than...

    Hey greytail,

Welcome to the community. It's brave of you to reach out here, so well done.

Given the amount of things you've talked about here, I hope you don't mind me moving this post to its own thread. This leaves room for people to have a bit more of a back and forth with you and you should get more responses overall.

It really sounds like you're feeling...

    Hey,

Welcome to the community. It's really brave of you to reach out to us.

Just a quick heads up, the boards aren't the best place to talk about suicidal thoughts in detail. You're welcome to talk about the feelings behind it, but we do need to keep things safe for the community so straying away from anything too heavy or specific is a good idea. If you would like...

    Hey Shaunie,

Huge respect for being more open with your mental health team - it's never an easy thing to do.

It's hard to know whether they would get in touch with the police as that would depend hugely on the details of your situation, and also things like age, etc. If they did, it's quite likely (although I can't say for sure) that they'd include you in that whole process...

I love sitcoms. I used to hate them, but I kind of grew into them. The only one I watched as a kid was 8 Simple Rules, but I could never get into the others. When I was at college I started watching Big Bang Theory and then that opened the floodgates for things like How I Met Your Mother and (of course) Friends. Can't say I've heard of Catastrophe, but I've seen Drifters advertised.

    Hey evie,

    Welcome to the community.

It sucks to hear that you were never particularly close to your parents. Growing up through everything you've talked about must be isolating enough, let alone when people at home don't seem to acknowledge anything that's happening. It's nice that you and your sister have been talking things through together, though.

  • Hey Million,

I hope getting that down on paper (/screen?) helped. When you put a lot of mental and/or emotional energy into trying to help someone, it's only natural to get frustrated or worn down if you feel like you're hitting a bit of a wall with them. Even more so if you feel some degree of responsibility towards them.

It doesn't seem selfish - we need to...

    Communication in relationships

Communication is often the bedrock to healthy relationships. This can mean being clear about your wants and needs, being open and honest about feelings, being mindful of theirs and a host of other things. When you and your partner aren't communicating properly, it's really easy to end up feeling frustrated and misunderstood.

No matter how hard we try, however, there are...

    Hey Kayden,

I just wanted to chip in with a voice from the team. It's really kind of you to post this.

As the others here have said, though, we're certainly not angry or annoyed at you. A lot of the members of this community know what it's like to be in a really vulnerable position, so we're not judging you or thinking badly of you for it, particularly given your lack...

    Hey Pink+fluffy,

Just to let you know, I've taken down the last couple of posts in this thread to keep things safe for the community. It sounds like things are hugely difficult for you right now, and if you ever find yourself at breaking point then we'd really recommend reaching out to Samritans, Papyrus or calling emergency services.

You're absolutely welcome to talk things...

I love that Malala came up first - what a saint.

I'm gonna say Helen Brook, the founder of Brook (the sexual health charity). She revolutionised contraception and sexual health in this country, and definitely should go down in the history books. Sounds like she was a remarkable individual. Here's a bit of blurb about her from their website:...

    Hey Million,

This is a hell of a lot to be thinking about, so props to you! I think ultimately it's up to you how early you consider these things. I guess it depends where you're at with yourself and your own life, and if you think it's relevant to start thinking about this stuff then that's all that really matters.

I could be wrong, but a doctor should, in theory, be open...

Posting here for now is more than okay - whatever you're comfortable with. You're doing well to reach out. You're welcome to keep using the boards in whatever way you find useful.

We actually have a Men-only chat that happens once a fortnight, which might be of interest. The group is usually very small, so there's lots of space and time to talk things through. If you're interested,...

    Hey Kayden,

This must be a difficult decision to make, but if it's the right thing for you then well done for making it. Takes a lot of courage to take control like that so props to you. It does suck to hear about your neice and brother, though. Is there a way you could see them away from the rest of your family?

How are you feeling about things today?
