Forum: Home, Law & Money

Is it a rich man's world?

  1. TheSite Sticky Thread Sticky: Home, law & money board userguide

Whilst the full guide is written here's a quick overview of this forum. It's for any issue you have around housing or your home (buying, selling, renting or just furnishing); anything about specific legal and consumer issues (can a shop do this, should they have arrested me this way, will I go to court as a witness, can I sue my neighbours for painting their house pink); and finally money (what's...

  1. Disability Living Allowance

Do they deliverately make the forms as difficult as possible to fill in or something? I'ce been considering doing this for a while, but there seems no point even filling them as there's sod all (that I can see) relating to eye sight - it all seems to be about walking and medication.

  3. Hit and run!

Ok, so if a driver knocks someone over, and gets out of the car to tell the victim "you shouldn't really have done that" then gets in his car and drives away. that the accident was caused by both driver and victim, but avoidable if the driver had been paying attention. Would you be able to get them done for hit and run? Yes I did get his number plate, and no I'm not too badly hurt.

  4. Poll Poll: Should I become a Witness?

There was an accident in my work last month whilst I was covering a shift in the restaurant (I work for a large department store) I was OK with speaking to the health and safety inspector but now the person involved wants me to be a witness and a solicitor would like to contact me. I'm doing well in my work, I'm established there and don't want to jeapordise my job (albeit weekend/part...

  5. Under warranty laptop repairs

My friend got a laptop last xmas, the battery went weird 3 months ago so she got it repaired because it was under warranty. The battery has just gone again and it's still under warranty but this time the manufacturers are refusing to repair it. Are they allowed to do this even though it's still under warranty?

  6. Personal Injury Claim.

I'm now one year and 5 months into a personal injury claim, after being a passenger in a car accident last year (no fault on our part). I'm still having lots of problems with the injuries I sustained in the accident, and am due another medical any time now. At the time of the accident, I suffered a moderate concussion, fractured coccyx and whiplash. We were all discharged from hospital half an...

  7. mortgage lenders

So my boyfriend (and me) are looking in to buying a house, it's only been a recent thing, as in this weekend recent, anyway the question really is does anyone know of any good lenders that will give him a mortgage as his earning circumstances are slightly different, in the fact that he is full time and permantl employment by an emolyer (house building company) but the amount he earns is variable...

  8. Being off sick

Right. I've been off work sick for the last couple of days, heart palpitations and sweating like a nympho. It comes and goes, but I handed in a sickline to my work which covers me for tomorrow - so as things stand I'm due back on Friday. Thing is, it's the football tomorrow night and I'm supposed to be going up to watch it, had a half day booked months in advance. I really want to go...

  9. storage heaters

We have some storage heaters, and tbh have no idea how to use them. We can apparently store the heat during the day to use at night (or is that the other way around? ) so it is cheaper, however the main issue is when we turn it on it takes a good couple of hours until anything starts coming out. Please help a frozen koe and bunnie....brrr!!

  13. What options do I have?

I know there's not a lot people on here can say to help me here, and there's probably no more options than what I know already but I can live in hope. Basically, I can't live at home much longer. The relationship between me and my parents has completely broken down, no matter what I've tried doing to fix it. It's gotten to a point that it's making me ill, I returned home from holiday about 3...

  20. Garden Leave - Legal standpoint

I've had a quick look through search and elsewhere but have a couple of questions. Basically my entire department have been advised that we are officially on gardening leave until the end of September with a view to possible redundancy if we don't want to re-locate to Rochdale (as the customer service calls will be dealt with there from now on) We've been advised that we will be called in...

  21. Fly tipping

My boyfriend received a fine from our council for fly tipping as they went through the rubbish and found correspondence to him. He's not lying about it - the two blocks of flats seem to be putting their rubbish in one area at the front of the flats because it gets collected from there almost every day. However, after almost two months at this flat, there hasn't been one rubbish collection...

  24. o2 / mobile phone problems

I got an upgrade from o2 to a Motorola Z8. It arrived and worked perfectly for about a minute. I kept getting error messages about lack of memory, and it would switch itself on and off at random. One morning it stopped working altogether and flashed bright pink and yellow on and off until I removed the battery. I was sent a replacement mobile and gave my faulty one back. At this stage I was...

  25. Dog attacked my dog and drew blood

I was taking my dog a walk and a woman was outsite her gate and all of a sudden this little dog just shot out of the gate and came up to my dog. At first she wanted to play but suddenly turned nasty and was really going for my dog. She was chasing after her and biting her everywhere. Eventually a man came running out and had to pull the dog off and unlock it's jaw from the scruff of my dogs neck....
