"Hey Lucie,

You say you're still on medication and have had lots of therapy? Maybe it's a matter of revisiting old coping techniques and anything else like that, that therapy taught you?

  • Research study about Virtual Reality and social anxiety

    Hey everyone,

Researchers at Nottingham Trent University are looking for people over the age of 18 to take part in a research study that's exploring the effectiveness of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) in reducing symptoms of social anxiety.

The research study aims to measure individuals levels of social anxiety and assess whether increasing one’s exposure to a virtual audience whilst giving a speech gradually reduces levels of social anxiety.

There are two stages to the research study (part 2 is by invitation only and will take place in Nottingham).

Part 2 - if you meet the criteria for part 2 of the study, you will be invited to take part in three VRET interventions in which the participant will give a 20 minute talk in front of a virtual audience (presentation content will be provided). Those who take part in stage 2 (VRET interventions) could receive up to £45 (£15 Amazon voucher for each VRET intervention).

Would you like to take part?
If you're interested in taking part in this study, head over here to complete part 1 of the study which is an online survey about your fear of social situations. It will take approximately 5 minutes to complete and you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £10 voucher.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to PM us and we can put you in touch with the researcher.
