I work as a waitress at an innkeepers fayre restaurant, and i pretty much hate it. Its really tiring, plus having stupid townie mothers screaming at you cos they cant be bothered to supervise thier kids in the play area is not fun!! plus i work every weekend, often til 1am, so i never see my pals n hardly see my bf. however...........i REALLY need the cash soooo........

Mine is pretty good. Nice office, free parking, and nice people.
I'd like to do something more interesting (and better paid) though.

i don't have one at the moment :( but i LOVED what i was doing last summer.
i was working as a kids courier on a campsite in France. I was running the kids club with another girl my age. so we got paid to sit outside and play in the sand all day and eat chocolate and cakes :D then in the evenings i joined in the campsite entertainment and got to make a prat of myself on the stage! it was great fun :)

I've worked as a waitress for the last (nearly!) 11 months, and I have to say, I love it! Yeah, okay so the work is hard (yes, harder than it looks!) and the hours are long and unsocialable, but I work with a really nice group of people. I'm the youngest one there (I'm 19 and the second youngest waitress is 31) but we all get on quite well and have a good laugh.
The restaurant I work in is a privately owned, pretty expensive place, which attracts a lot of different people, from business men to OAPs, and a lot of regulars - after being there 11 months, I know more-or-less all of them, which helps me enjoy the job more cos I know what to say and what not to (there's nothing worse than a stroppy business man!). I'm there four lunchtimes and 1-2 nights a week, so I get to know a lot more than the other waitresses and also get on a lot better with my bosses than the others - they treat me like a daughter! (which is nice)
Saturday night will be my last night there tho, cos I start a new job on Monday, working for one of the business men (an insurance broker) who comes in for lunch and business meetings all the time! :)

No.
And I've only been there two weeks :|
I'm hoping it'll get better when I lose my 'new girl' status, although I get on pretty well with all the people I work with. Except my manager, I won't go there.
But yes...the money is ok I guess, and it's all experience....

other than that im a full time student and i wish it would hurry up and END cos i hate school:(
Well I work for myself which has its ups and downs but yes I do like working as a freelance Web designer.

I'm currently working at a wholesale for wool and souvenirs. No worries if I got bad hair days as I'm behind the scenes from nine to five. Pays fine, and the staff is quite young (minus the boss). And there's a cute guy. :D
I quite like it, although it's a rather brainless job. End up making up weird short stories in my mind, and re-play them over and over again. lmao, I'm sad. :D

I hate my job. It's temping at a financial company..computery stuff. And its the most boringgg job in the world. I'm meant to do it for 6 months but I'm gonna leave after 3. It's soo bad.
The office is crap, some of the people are ok, but theres not exactly many opportunities to socialise. Plus I'm the youngest there by at least 6 years but blagged myself the job by faking a load of computer qualifications I don't have.
But hey it's only a gap year job to save some money for travelling so I shouldn't complain. Just feel sorry for people who have a full-time job like that. It also sucks cos I have to drive 45mins into work and 45mins back every day and pay £3.50 a day parking :(

It's my first day at work tomorrow, and I'm praying I'll like it! It's just an office job, but it's my first 9-5 mon-fri job, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Oh, me too! :)
I'm gonna miss my old job (waitressing, see my earlier post) but I'll be back there, working weekends at Xmas!
Good luck with your new job! :)

I'm hating mine right now. I work at a v busy convenience store, and every shift I am doing, I am put on the till while everyone else gets to have the cushy job of putting stock out. All I hear is them laughing and chatting to eachother, whilst I am always all alone on that horrid till with the rude customers who never seem to go away. I'm a doormat. I'm being paid £3.60 an hour.

Hate it.
I do Furniture removals, it's my dads business.
It wrecks my back all the time, I feel ill a lot due to my back always aching when standing up, the pain goes down my groin and it puts my stomach out sometimes if it's bad enough. :(
I really need a job which doesn't involve lifting as I think I'm going to get a lot worse than a bad back if I continue like this. :(

I hope you've seen a GP about this and you make sure you lift things according to proper health and safety recommendations? If you're doing yourself that much damage you should change job.

I waitress at two places and I'm reallying beginning to dislike them. The hours are unsociable (9-6pm so I'm too tired to do anything in the evening or 7pm till around midnight so I have no evening), the customers in the daytime place are whinging Northern retards (and this is a Northerner saying this) who on the whole have no idea how to look after their children, have no table manners and have no idea on how to eat a balanced diet (fish and chips then trifle at 10am? Have a nice heart attack).
I, of course, am above all that. ;) Ok, I'm not, but it's all really wearing me down... There's either nothing to do because nobody's in or we're run off our feet because everyone's piled in at once.
What's worse, it's the bank holiday this weekend. Or, as it's known where I work, bank HELLiday because we're so busy.
At least the other staff are nice (although every and now and again the chef voices his opinion that drug addicts should be shot. Um.) and I'm valued by my boss.

I go from really liking mine to hating it depending on who i'm working with and where im working. I coach tennis and sometimes you get some right little gobshites or arrogant coaches who you hvae to work with but most of the time its bearable!

I think (well, this is true in my case ;) ) that so many people have bitched about their jobs here because they're only jobs to earn money, not jobs they've chosen as a career.

:(
that used to happen to me all the time, lol.
our shop was huge, and there were nuff places to hide from customers and managers. they always stuck me on the till, and because i've got a problem with maths i hated it. i know the tills add it up for you, but its different when im in charge of someones cash or card...i used to get proppa paranoid about it. plus i was at the forefront of the customer side of things. lol, some bloke threatened to hit me because the bag on the counter wasnt big enough.
now i work in an office just havin a good time. the workloads tough and the jobs stressful but i enjoy it.

ugh my job WAS cool, i had the best members of staff working with me and i even met my current GF there. Then i got transferred to the shop from hell where i have a manager that talks about golf 24/7 and an incompetant and lazy work colleague who pisses me off. Funny how i took the year out of uni to do this job and now im suddenly regretting it.
p.s. i work for ladbrokes, woohoo the excitement. At least i get paid £7.50 an hour.
p.s.s. i took a year out of uni to save for car, travel and flat! Just in case u were wonderin

i take it you work in a restaurant then? i have to do that too, work until 'finish' which, as you said, is basically waiting around for the last customers to leave and then setting up the restaurant. sometimes i dont get dont til half one in the morning, its a major pain in the ass. especially, when its only a few guys sitting at the bar area with their pints. its like, if u wanna drink go to a pub!! this a restaurant!! and id like to get home before midnight dammit!! some people, i tell thee.....

Sounds alright to me. I can go all day without so much as seeing a woman. And I'm outside in all weathers and its muddy and I do very long hours.
So basically, no I don't like my job.

mine.. like anyother has its ups and downs, i enjoy it most of the time but its so unsociably cause i work night... and i do long hours... like 80 hours a week average for a shitty £5.75 a hour but i like the people there and im the assistant manager so i do pretty much what i like... though if i dont do anything i have to stay longer and get moaned and shouted at when everything aint going to plan like the directors want (like today im pissed off with it) but its generally ok... it pays and i have no qualifications to do anything better anyway so it looks like im stuck here...

I've been working as a barman in a nightclub in Leicester for the last 2 months and have quite enjoyed it really, doesn't pay much and I have missed not going out so much but the job itself has been OK

i work as a barmaid, i really enjoy it because it's a very sociable job. i've made tonnes of friends there, there's always gossip going around.. (usually involving me!..oops..), and my friends are always in the bar (my uni hall is just down the road), so when i get a "cigarette break", i go and have a dance/chat with them.
i get let off early quite a lot too, although that kind of defeats the point of working in the first place because i desperately need the £££.
the only prob is our boss only employs girls he fancies, so he's a bit of a perve really. and i won't go into that because it's much suckage... but despite this, yess i love my job. :)

I don't like my job, but out of a long series of crap jobs, it's one of the better ones.
I don't like customers who smoke at the bar and breathe into my face, especially cigars.
I hate finishing late and having no way to get home other than walk, which takes an hour, at 2 in the morning, alone. Not fun.
I hate my gross uniform, hate wearing tights and high heeled shoes so my feet burn and sting. And a bow tie, ugh. It's also freezing cold.
But. It's quite an easy job, and a big enough place that I can hide and no-one notices.
At £5 an hour, it's also better pay than most bar jobs round here.
I love min - except I wish I didn't have to be here today and tomorrow and again next monday tuesday and wednesday.

Ahh, in the last few months I've had a chunk of diff jobs and quit them all. :S
I worked in a shoe shop - sucked, peoples feet? EW!
Worked in an office - *yawn* but I got to sit on my ass a lot and learn boring computery things
Worked in Clarks shoe shop - even worse then the first cos peoples feet there are sooooo ugly! I wish I could go back to the day when I didn't know what a bunion was :(
Worked in a bar which was fun since they made me dance on the bar and stuff :D except it conflicted with when I want to go out! Plus they only hire people so that they get guys in. Apparently tis well known that guys go there for the fit bar staff  Um...I just felt weird about that.
So now, I need another job since I'm a lazy bum. But at least I can now go clubbing when I want and don't have as huge an arse as I would have.
So I guess...no, I don't like my jobs.
I do indeed.
Free cornish pasties/pukka pies/hot dogs, massive breaks, good pay, all the third division football I can handle and the option to work whatever games suit me.
Nae bad, like. :thumb:
