Rats

Ok, so I just went into my basement to read the gas meter, and came across what appears to be a dead rat :( :yuck: Now I've finished being shocked and appalled, I need to phone the landlord. He is a sort of do-it-yourself kinda guy, and I wanted to know if he has to call out pest control so they can see if theres a nest/problem, as he will just pick it up in a carrier bag and throw it out I imagine. So does he have to get people in to check it out? Or is it up to him how he deals with it?

If your landlord doesnt do anything phone the council, I know some do that sort of thing for free because its cheaper than having a Black Death outbreak.
