Does anyone know any good advice websites on starting your own business? Things like information on loans, government grants etc. Plus what sort of thing the bank/loan company would expect when presenting them with a business plan etc and all of the other things you need to take care of.

Well obviously the English don't have a country to sponge off to start up their own businesses ;) but I guess it should have plenty of stuff that'll be similar. Cheers for the link, I'll take a look.

I don't know where about's in the north you are but Newcastle City Council provide grants and loans, as well as advice, for people wanting to start up their own business, so your local council might be a good place to ask. Also The Prince's Trust (http://www.princes-trust.org.uk/) "helps young people through training, skill building, business loans, grants,
personal development and study support outside school".
