Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Statistics tell you nothing. It's not new.

I went to the pub this evening and had a couple of pints with friends, i do object to this labelling me as a binge drinker.

Though i probably could be classed as one on a Monday night out mind....mmm student night

It is stupid. My dad must bigne every night! Yet he isn't drunk.

My guess is the entire Continent must qualify as binge drinkers, given that so many of them have a couple of glasses of wine with each meal and often the odd beer during the day/evening.

Could do worse than that though.

As far as I know binge drinking is drinking to get drunk.

Any talk of units etc is bollocks becasue it effects people so differently anyway...........

Statistics are useful as long as they are used properly, technically this is not a case of bad stats, but of bad definition..........

As far as I know binge drinking is drinking to get drunk.

Which makes it a totally meaningless term because thats what people drink the stuff for, if it wasnt an intoxicant people wouldnt drink it.

No but there is a difference between actually getting drunk and having a couple of drinks and getting merry.

I like having a pint although it doesn't make me drunk........

But then whats 'drunk' all these terms mean something different to different people.

I count being drunk as being intoxicated, it doesnt matter what wording you use be it just 'merry' or 'blasted' you are intoxicated, therefore by the wierd logic of the term you are a binge drinker.

That one pint might not make you sloppy drunk, but would you really drink it so often if it had no alcohol?

Yes, I like a pint, for the taste......

I go down the pub and will have a pint although I know that I will fell no alcoholic effect, simply because I like that pint.......

At the weekend however I will have 10 pints and know that will make me drunk, and that is binge drinking...........

I like a good drink, just the same as I like a good smoke.
