Is it just me or does anyone else think the glazers are getting a hard time from the press?
I'm a lifelong Man U fan (bet that makes me popular on here), and am not entirely happy with this years events in the boardroom, but think most of the things the glazers are being condemned for happened prior to their involvement, eg:
season ticket prices (mine went up 10% this year ct 2.5% last year) - announced months before takeover bid.
the club now being a money making machine! - hasn't Man U always been a corporate brand - i mean, they even took the 'football club' name off the club crest a year or so back - "to reflect the direction of the club as a business".
Links like the one below (along with other stories), have angered me further
It is as if Malcom Glazer has personally designed this blue, white and red Man U away strip, and the press are now saying fans will turn because of the colour scheme used. For as long as I can remember we have had blue away kits - for heavens sake, we won the European Cup in 1968 wearing blue!!!!
Is it just me being cynical or have the press got it in for Yankee Malc even more than the fans?

Slagging off the yankee nobhead sells papers, so they do it.
The media don't have a hidden agenda beyond shifting copies.
I despise man United for everything you have said. It's not a new thing, Glazer might do t more efficiently but the person to blame for it all is Martin Edwards.
Such a shame that sale to the fat carlisle cunt fell through.

Yes, and I expect no different. The press are scum.

 You have no idea, plenty of ABU blinkers used on these board, but then you should be used to that.

It's horrendous but it was innevitable. The battle was lost and now we have to make the best of what we have. Deserting the club now will only increase the likelihood of things going leeds-up.

Why is it that I instantly think of Rangers?
BTW I remember back in 92 when United unvelied a blue kit, some of the fans went mental - talking about City. Guess they had forgotten 1968 too...

Explain? What is it I do that so offends you, racist scum?
Actually don't, I can guess. It's your inferiority complex again isn't it. You know that United achieve things which your club can only dream of, so you are jealous and therefore you lash out. But only against those people who your tiny little mind decides are "easy targets". Someone who will make you feel big.
BTW I've got a fiver on you being bullied at school, or being the bully. Haven't decided which yet.

Press vs Malcolm Glazer
It's more like Press vs Man Utd. Everyone loves to see us fail and ABU dickheads will easily buy papers with stories which predict our downfall. Out of cynical hope more than anything else. Then of course, our own fans get consumed by the press fuelled slander and suddenly we have a mutiny on our hands. It's sad and pathetic but unfortunately the scummy press have much influence over our weak minded society.

I think the press can now safely predict the Arse's downfall with Mtr Vieira confirmed as signing for Juve. I think they'll fall apart now. Gerrard and Keane on a par, he has been the best midfielder in the prem for years, think they'll struggle to replace him. They're defence has already started to creak, and Cousin Fritz in goal isn't exactly the best, I can see them struggling - and following this, Pires and Henry may walk aswell - hope they lose them and then grace that new emirates stadium with the shittiest gooners team for decades.
Bring back John Jensen!

A bit of wishful thinking that ^^, methinks...
Arsenal has managed well without Viera whenever he's been injured or suspended- just as Man U has managed well without Keane.
Then again it could be because the suppossed influence Keane has on his team is often overestimated. If Man U really relies that much on Keane, then they are in deep trouble. Because I'm sorry to say he's not getting any younger, nor he has been particularly great in the last 3 or so seasons.

True, Arsenal manage better without 'Angry Pat' than we do without Keano, but its obvious we are already suffering from his loss - he isn't anything like the player he was four years ago, and Fergie leaves him out of one in three games anyway. This is the reason fro our slip in form the last couple of years. We've tried Djemba Djemba, Butt, Kleberson, Miller, Fortune, Neville and O'Shea, and no one can replace him! Ignore Glazer, Fergie, Prawn Sandwiches and racehorses - This is what has caused us major problems.
Arsenal have missed him the odd game through injury - it will tell this season, I am sure. They will now have to attempt to replace the seemingly irreplaceable. Wenger will have to give his replacement lessons in following the referee around the pitch bawling abuse down his ear (Vieira's true talent) if they are ever to reach the heights of the last few years once they move into the Emirates Stadium.
I hear Jermaine Jenas being touted as the major investment from Juve's 13 million - any thoughts?

Better than nothing but not substitute for Viera in my opinion. They'll have to fish out some more but so far the whole transfer market seems rather quiet this summer.

Jenas is a good player who would do well in an Arsenal team.
I expect Wenger knows what he's doing. I also expect there's been a huge bust-up.

Can't remember where now but I read the other day that Angry Pat and Diving Rob (Pires) had both had bust ups with the Arsenal backroom staff - but not Wenger.
Will try and find out where I saw it. It was one of the tabloids so quite possibly sales-mongering tripe anyway

Not worth anything near the 20 million we've been quoted for him. If we're looking for a Vieira replacement I think Mahamadou Diarra is the man.
Jenas is a good player who would do well in an Arsenal team.
Yes, he'd improve the squad but that's all he'll be, a squad player. His talent will be wasted at Highbury. The media hyping him up as some sort of Vieira replacement is wrong.

My Geordie mate thinks Jenas will be better than Gerrard in a few years. I am yet to see anything which comes close to this estimation. I've heard the Diarra rumours as well but he has only shined because he has the Chel$ki-bound boy wonder Essien to partner him in midfield. People have been talking about replacing Pat with Baptista as well, but anytime I've seen him he's been playing as an attacking midfielder or striker so don't know where that one is coming from?
Vieira has been a want-away for at least a season, you can see it from his game. It seemed inevitable he would leave in order to fill his ambition of playing for a big european club.

It's the same with any club but scum fans think its only them that get the abuse and the shit from the press, all clubs get it when the press find something to sell papers. Leeds have certainly had it the last few years. Its statements like that why I personally dis-like the majority of scum fans.
Everyones against us, the papers, the fa, whine whine whine whine whine, just stop whineing and get on with it.
Just to add, Leeds to get promoted next year  oh yes

And what shite is that?? Please elaborate, if its the comments about Man U fans whineing about the press then I just made the point that its not only you, Leeds have certainly had there fair share the past few years.
If it was Leeds to get promoted - well I'm pretty confident this year of making the play-offs then the last spot could be anyones then, its all down to a little bit of luck in play-offs and Leeds are due some I think. You wouldn't have heard me saying that last year so its not shite, I actually know quite a bit about football and believe we have a squad now that can do something and push for the play-offs.
Any questions?? :p

Sorry - Not referring to your team or their form, just the fact that Leeds/United/Liverpool fans all seem to have the same terms of endearment - e.g. scum. If you know so much about leeds, you'd know that scum is probably more suited to your fans than ours - you have turned up at our ground every season for god knows how long (oh, actually, you didn't last year) singing about a plane crash that killed our team before you were probably even born, throwing coins/bottles and fighting with stewards!!! We actually discussed this on a thread not long ago. That's my beef with leeds - sorry if you took it the wrong way mate
Funnily enough, I have always had a soft spot for Leeds, no idea why (it's certainly not the travelling fans!). Feel they may make play offs this year, and that they are 'too big' to be outside the premiership (but I am sure there are six or seven other teams in the champ with the same feeling). One thing is for certain, it is getting harder and harder to get out of there each year, so the sooner they get up the better.

Same old, same old. But its ok for your travelling fans to sing about Turkey?? I see, do as I say and not as I do and all that shit.
Also I've mentioned before when I was a young lad in the FAMILY stand with my dad n brother, some nob (don't know who) decided to put the travelling Manchester United Angels in the top tier of the new stand, the bottom tier being the family stand and for your Angel set of fans to throw coins and bottles at young kids, then I have a very valid reason to despise the lot of you. Thats why the term scum fits your fans perfectly, not all of you but a lot of you.

Thats settled then, we've both got a minority of twats who support us, as do all clubs. Some are scum some aren't - my point was that not all fans are scum.
Munich happened before Turkey, (I was going to add a which came first.......pun but thought it insensitive). and I would never ever condone that. Why clubs use tragedy to taunt other clubs is a mystery to me.

What makes you think you'll get up this year? I feel they'll be there or thereabouts, but my mate, another Ellandite seems to think they are a poorer side than last year!
They've done some shrewd business recently (Robbie Blake isn't A1, but has already proved he can cut it in that league), so I think they might turn a few heads if the team settles early enough.

Towards the end of last season there was a stage when the play-offs were a definate possiblity but we failed to win games and drew nearly all our last 10 games which made us drop down the table. We didn't have the resources to play 4-4-2 last year and was playing 4-5-1 with Healy on the left hand side. Healy is a quality player for this league and needs to be up top imo and I think this year he will form a brilliant partnership with Hulse (who impressed at the end of last season when he was on loan) or even Robbie Blake who's record is good. We've got that balance now by signing Eddie Lewis and Steve Stone (both left & right sided midfield players), don't know much about Lewis but reports are good and I've being an admirer of stone since I can remember. That added to the fact we have Bakke this season who is better than this division imo and also Seth Johnson should be involved this year and he would be one of the best midfielders in this league if he gets some fitness and form. I just think we are loads more solid than last year, there was a few signings late last season and the new 1's this summer there is massive competition for places now which we didn't have last season, also players should be able to play in there proper positions, too many players playing out of position last year.

It dosn't bother me in the sightest that the press use our potential downfall to sell papers. It absolutely doesn't faze me at all, so I'm not whinging about it. But to say the papers jump on every club's back to the same extent as United's is bollocks.
They love talking about us, hell, everyone does. Nearly every football thread in this forum usually descends into an ABU bitch-fest. We're a national football obsession and stories about us sell more than stories about other clubs. Even though our glory days are some-what distant, we're still the cub everyone loves to hate. We sell lots of papers, especially when it's negative press.
Oh, and as for Leeds. I predict Healy to be top-scorer in the Championship this season (or there abouts) provided he isn't played out of position.
