I was wondering if anyone can give me a good way to make my hair messy with gel. I tried all sorts of ways, but it always seems to want to go back flat.

Depending on how long your hair is you can always use wax, it certainly does its job.
The most lethal wax around is called "Dax Wave and Groom" its more suited for a dry look messy hair style.
Or theres always a wax/gel by the brand of Schwortzkoft in a silver tube thing, thats good for a shiny wax look but it feels very greasy.

Work it into your hair from the back to the front.

the secret is to apply it at the root of the hair! then twist the ends/tops together! simple! :thumb:

I do do it from the roots to the top and twist already.
How wet should my hair be?

try wetting your hair, then using a towel dry it into shape and gel from there...works for me

Gel really isn't good for the messed up look. Use a good styling putty or wax.

is that the red or blue one, i prefer the blue, the red is like hard ice cream, you have to really dig in to scoop it out...

How badly does that smell? Where do you get it? I live in the states. Also how much does it cost?

My wee bro says it smells like furninture polish.. which I have to agree with.
You must be able to get it in the states - saw a tub on Queer Eye for A Straight Guy.
Here is just one example of an American website: http://www.brownesbeauty.com/dax+wax-brand.phtml
Google it for some more

To be honest, if you want nice messed up hair, I wouldn't use anything. It just makes your hair look greasy and unwashed.

I myself use Tresemme, works like a charm for my styled messed up look ;-) I apply it to damp hair and presto :D

I use fructis manga too!
fink that is pretty good stuff!
also fructis SPIKING GEL is good but the hard glue really mucks up your hair! its too "touch n go" it clogs/sticks to the one area (even though i spread it evenly on my hands)
