Would you pay £130 for this?
http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/shop/mens-wallets/mens-wallet-azxa-1032-200-b

It's a mans wallet.

It's also sold on ebay for £90

Nope. No point having a wallet and nothing to go in it.

That wallet is vile. I wouldn't pay 10p for it!

Short answer: no.

But it's all down to personal preference. If you like it and want it, get it.

Ohh.. pardon me for hijacking (sp?!) your thread, but while everyone's thinking of men's wallets..

Does anyone have any idea where I could buy my bf a nice leather wallet? Oddly enough, I've never had to show much interest in men's wallets before - it was a present idea I had a while ago (it's our one year anniversary soon so I have an excuse to buy him something!) but I haven't been able to find one I like. Any ideas of particular designers/website/shops I might be able to try?

Much appreciated! :)

ETA: Sorry, I'm clueless! Are men's wallets that hold coins common? Or do most just hold cards and "paper money"?

Personally i do not like wallets that hold coins, as they get far too full. Instead i use the little pocket on my jeans, you know the really useless one on the right side, well it aint useless anymore. But anyways I find thats the best cause you never lose coins in there. But I'm sure there are quite a few people that like coins in their wallet. You should try and see what you bf does when he gets change in stores.

No doubt everyone will go "eew, you old fogey" but I'd suggest M&S. I got one from there in the sale and its really good and simple.

Mens wallets that hold coins don't tend to be that common, most only hold cards and paper money. You can get them, but the only ones I've seen recently were in polyester and had "umbro" stamped on them.

The wallet in the picture is just like any other thing by Paul Smith: overpriced chavish shite.

Panthro

Yup. "overprice chavish shite"

I have a wallet, got it out of argos, got a coin bit and had it for about four years and still in good nick. This would probably fall apart....

Who in their right mind would pay £130 for a wallet?

If you have that much money to throw around you won't need a wallet to carry your cash....

More fucking money than sense some folk.

You think a chav can afford 130 on a wallet?

Second7th
01-05-2005, 11:38 PM
That's the thing.

I don't like coins. I rarely use them, and my current wallet is always bulky and full of shit.

At least with this, I can carry my notes and important cards around with me, in a slimline wallet which looks good and feels good.

plus it's different and very UN chavvish. Show me a chav which has one

It is only the design thats a bit off putting I must say. I prefer the straight forward leather wallet with no cartoony thing on it.

If you get 130 pounds worth of satisfaction from it, then no reason not to indulge.

No.

I have a ten pound leather item. It serves me fine and looks a lot better.

Its also Portuguese.

I've got a wallet with a coin section. I bought it from Allders (the department store that is now no more :().

Any decent department store will sell wallets. Have a look round a House of Fraser or Debenhams or M&S. Next even sells a few.

Thanks for your help guys :) I also found a website - www.menkind.co.uk - which has FCUK and Ted Baker wallets for £30ish. Will go looking in town next time I'm there too.

I've got a really swish little CK leather billfold which is pretty sweet apart from there's nowhere to keep my change. That was a present though and thus don't know how much it was. It came in a nice case though.

No offence to you but Louis Vuitton has become so chav these days like almost all brands which started out as respectable. Even Burberry used to be classy...
My how times change!

It is only the knock offs that have become chavish tbh. It still really trashes their image. That said I'm very glad the chavs have kept off the other nice brands.

I think some of you have been unnessesarily rude in this thread. If you don't like it, fine, but there is no need to start slinging personal comments around. I don't understand why you would feel threatened by taste or opinion that differs from yours.

i quite like the wallet at the start of this thread, but i like a lot of paul smith stuff. i dont think its particularly chavvy brand, not exactly up there with Tommy, and Henri Lloyd etc..is it. i fear this world is becoming obssesed with chav culture....everythings chavvy...he/she's a chav...time to move on me thinks.

Thats where mr Brites leather wallet is from. I cant remember the designers name, but its a really nice wallet.
It doesnt mean his money stays in there any longer though unfortunatly.

I wouldn't pay more than £20 for a wallet.

You can get good ones including brand names and what have you from Donny market for about £6

you are sooo freaking sexy!!!ASODK:LXJ:FDZXK

anyway, james i would say no...
i mean.. i like the interior design.. but not as a wallet..
(does that make sense?)
even though you're paying a lot of money for it.. it DOES
make it look a bit.. on the cheap side...
like something you'd get at a mexican flea market...

BUT then again, it is YOUR wallet, and your money.. so if
that wallet makes you happy, go for it! because when it all
boils down, it's you who has to look at the wallet everyday
not anybody else (i know, "no duh")

btw, Coach does really nice male wallets that aren't as
expensive... but then again.. they are more simple
and from the looks of it.. doesn't look like you want a
simple looking wallet

(lol.. this has got to be the most unhelpful post, i apologize)

Exactly. You can get some really nice wallets without paying a stupid amount for them. I don't think I have ever spent more than a tenner on a new wallet for me. I spent more than that on a new wallet for David though. I got a nice one in Next.

Second7th - I really like that wallet but not sure if I would spend £130 on it. If I did that then I would have no money to put in my spangly new wallet! Hehe.

The one i'm using at the minute cost me £1.50 from primark. Not to bad.
The most expensive one i have is a Billabong one and that was £13 but i dont use it that much cause it doesn't fir in my pocket very well ;(

Got a brown leather one from River Island.

It has served me well. It would be stupid of me to spend alot of mula on a wallet as they often become battered and shit looking after about a year and I need to replace.
