how do i initiate something more?

i really like this girl i just recently met, and it seems like she is interested in me too. i found out she's really into sports, she plays softball, volleyball, and basketball, and runs track. she also likes camping, hiking, and being outdoors. id like to maybe go hiking with her or just do SOMETHING besides just talking every day. should i just go ahead and ask or is there some sort of "order" that girls prefer?

Just get to know her a little better. Once she seems relatively comfortable with you, maybe ask her to go somewhere with you..e.g. movies, for a coffee, or just for a walk around the local park. Orderwise, I think that all that "traditional" stuff shouldn't even come into play, just do what you feel is right at the time. If it's a good time to ask her out on a date, go right ahead.
