dvd ripping software

Just wondering if anyone knows some good software out there for ripping dvds straight to divx/mpg?........and do i have to play the whole thing in real time in order to rip it? ta......

CloneDVD 2 is wicked to use but that will burn to DVD/disk as a .VOB. I have a 2 programs. 1 called ImToo MPEG Encoder which can convert near enough every single video format around. Also use WinAVI which you can convert things like .VOB 2 .AVI, etc. but you don't want to have to mess around with encoding from one to the other, so check out this, http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-ripper.html

And yes, it will go frame by frame, most do :(.
