... story on sky.com/news:

NEW TWIST OVER FINGER

The tale of the woman who found a finger in a bowl of chilli has just become more bizarre.

Earlier this week, Anna Ayala withdrew her lawsuit against fast-food chain Wendy's after claiming she found a finger in her dinner as she ate at an outlet in San Jose, California.

Now police have said that the offending digit could belong to a woman who was attacked by a leopard.

Sandy Allman, 59, who kept a spotted leopard and other exotic animals, called police in San Jose claiming ownership of the now famous fingertip.

She said she last saw it in a Las Vegas emergency room in February, packed in ice, after doctors told her the 1.5-inch piece of finger could not be reattached.

Sergeant Nick Muyo, a San Jose Police Department spokesman, said: "She saw the finger on TV and recognised it as a piece she lost when she was bitten by a spotted leopard.

"We and police in Nevada are investigating the tip to see whether there is any link between the women, but both claim not to know one another and no link between the incidents has been found thus far."

"This is one of the most bizarre and intriguing cases I have ever seen."

Both the women come from Nevada.

Officials are carrying out DNA tests to try and establish who the finger belongs to.

Wendy's has also been keen to find the owner and is offering a $50,000 reward for information.

Anybody who keeps big cats as pets is asking to be mauled... Same with people who work in circuses.
