Hiya

My bf and I are planning on going abroad beginning of May :yippe: , but we haven't got a clue on where the best places are to visit - which has the same amenities as what were into and speak English.

Were looking for somewhere warm, with night entertainment, shopping complexes, theme parks etc - basically were not the type to go sightseeing or just chilling out by the beach catching a tan all day!

We have £300/£400 (or under if poss!) each to spend, so has anyone got any suggestions?! :chin:

Paris, Barcelona, Napflio (Greece), Munich, Milan, Interlaken (Switzerland), Brussels, Pau (France), and Branau (Austria -- Hitler's birthplace). Those are just what I can think off the top of my head, but all those places accomadate English speakers.

Is it £300/400 total or each? How long are you expecting to go for?

Interlaken (Switzerland)

Interlarken's great, I visited for a day with my cousin while we were in Switzerland. It was a great place - although one resturant gave us a fork to eat our soup with! :eek2:

It does accomadate English speakers, but beware - some people will enjoy firing German at you, and wont back down if they hear that you don't understand. Since my cousin only speaks english, and me just enough french for us to survive in our resort (Chateau D'Oex, nice french speaking people! :thumb: ) it got difficult, but if you know how to say "I speak English" in german, you might just survive....

Why don't you go to Barcelona or that area. They have a great theme park - port aventura, shops, markets, as well as beaches/mountains. You can get cheap flights there and most people speak English.

the beaches are goood there, but you have to go slightly out of the city to get there.
Dis person didnt want to go to the beach anyway.

Magaluf i would suggest, relatively cheap and best for nightlife.

Barcelona sounds good! Where would you suggest to stay?

My bf was looking at some websites and came across 'Malta', they said it's very English out there and they also drive on the left hand side :)

Has anyone been there? and if so, what's it like and where is the best place to stay?

I liked Malta a lot when I was there, very nice people, excellent food and quite cheap too.

Though its not really a place you should go if you want that traditional booze up type holiday, oh and they dont really have beaches as such, they are rocky.

I've been to Malta..went with my family Summer 03. Was a good holiday, unbelievable temperatures..if you go I recommend a trip to the "Blue Lagoon"-the sea water is totally transparent and its amazing. It is very British out there, and the food is very cheap. You can get a 3 course meal in a restaurant for less than £10 a head..some places its about a fiver. Plus most people speak English too. Also, the capital city-Valetta is pretty cool if you go on a market day. I stayed in Bugibba...near St Pauls Bay.

I stayed with my family in a place called the "Mavina holiday complex"..it has mixed reviews but I thought it was okay. Its near loads of bars/restaurants and less than a ten minute walk to the beach..the sea front had loads of shops and restaurants too. The complex also has a swimming pool which is handy..you won't need much money for food as its so cheap, and there are zillions of restaurants around. The place is self catering, but you get cooking stuff in your room so can cook if you want to. Plus if the room is extra hot you can hire a good fan which is really cheap. And all rooms have a balcony too.

Russia - you've never seen anything quite like it. Just a phenomenal place.
