A book called Flowers in the Attic? It's written by Virginia Andrews. And the film is based upon it. Just wondered if anyone has seen or read the book, and what their views on it are?

I have. Didn't really like it, or any of the rest of the series. Not a huge Virginia Andrews fan to be honest.

The flowers in the attic series contains 5 books, the last being a prequel to the first book. I think when they made the movie they changed so many of the details that they ruined it. Eg doughnuts laced with arsenic = cookies, mother dies at her wedding- when she plays crucial parts in the first 3 books. The actress and actor who play Cathy and Chris are alot older than the story wishes. For those who read flowers in the attic but not the others, I suggest to do so. My favourite is Petals on the Wind

I have to say that Flowers in the attic is my favourite book of all time! It is brilliant - quite sad in parts though! I haven't seen the film, in fact I didn't know that there was one! I read one of the sequals and although fairly good - it didn't compare to the Flowers in the attic.

Flowers in the attic’. Written by Virginia Andrews. What an apt title for a very disturbing book. The first book in the set is based on a true story, which makes it all the more horrifying. This story is centred around a family who lose their father. The mother has no choice but to go and live with her grandmother, who is a very evil and unforgiving woman. The four children have to live in an attic, and have no contact with the outside world. They are a secret.
I prefer to read books... I don't think to much of the 'new Virginia Andrews' though. Have not found them at all intrigueing, some other good books of hers that I have read include:
Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, My Sweet Audrina, Heaven, and Dark Angel
After the death of V.C. Andrews in 1986 Andrew Neiderman became the 'ghost writer' to complete her unfinished books and expand and continue her story-telling genius. Garden of Shadows, Fallen Hearts, Gates of Paradise, and Web of Dreams, these books were began by Virginia Andrews and finished by Andrew Neiderman. Anything thereafter was written by Neiderman.

I love all of VC Andrew's books! Filled with sex and forbidden relationships...What else can a girl ask for?? =) I got to say tho. I watched the movie and was VERY disappointed. All the colorful imagery and subplots were gone and taken from the movie. Read the book! It's soo much better

I must say, I do prefer Robbert Goddard. The best of his books has to be caught in the light! I love stories with a twist and believe me, this has it!!! I couldn't put it down. I'm reading another at the moment called borrowed time.... so far its intriuging.
