Hi
I'm not sure if i should be worrying about this or not but any help you can give me will hoprfully ease my concern. I im 14 and i started my peirods back last year when i was 13 in march, sinces then i have one 3 months after that, a month ater the second and no more since. My last on was back in September and they lasted about 5 days. It's now been 6 months since my last period, i haven't had sex so there is no chance i could be pregnant. Should i be worried? Should i go see someone? :(
Please Help
Sarah

I suggest going to see the doctor.. my Girlfriend has a problem similer like this (she tends to only has a period once every 2 cycles, apparently a lazy ovarie as it rarely lets one lose) anyway Talk to your doctor, he/she will probably reffer you to the gynecologist and will take some tests, I hope it gets sorted but sooner the better :) Not trying to scare you but it could be something big/serious or something small
Take care,
best of luck

During the first fews years of a female's cycle irregular periods are nothing. If say when you get to about 18 your still experiencing this much of a irregular then maybe it's time to worry. But many things can interfer with periods. Just calm down and wait. Think of it this way less periods = less pain.

go and talk to your gp.
but i'd also say that when you first start your periods, they can come at very different times - since your body hasn't had a chance yet to get into a cycle.

To be honest at her age i don't think they would, it is perfectley normal for periods to be irregular in the first few years of having them, it takes a while to settle into a proper cycyle. I wouldn't worry too much at the minute penguin your body is probably still adjusting :)
Hey,
It takes a while for some girls periods to settle down for the first couple of years... if it carries on like this after about 2 years though it might be worth mentioning it to your GP.
So long as this is your only annoying/bad symptom of you periods it sounds pretty normal.

I started my periods day before my 13th birthday and didn't have regular ones till I was at least 17/18. Irregular periods for the first few years is normal.

Sorry but I disagree..... i'm 20 and my periods have never been regular...... been having them 5 yrs. My bodies fine, did get sent for a scan though, I have cysts in my ovaries (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome), but thankfully I can conceive...... It's going to happen throughout a womans life..... it can be affected by many factors that everyone already knows so I shall not repeat it all......

What was the point in that?
Anyway, young penguin, don't worry about it. I had my first period when I was 10, then nothing for 6 months, then a lot of buggering about. It takes time to settle down. As the others have said when you hit 16/17/18 then start being a little more worried about things, or if your periods are dead regular and THEN start messing up.

It doesn't mean she has to worry!!! women can go thru their wholes lives having irregular periods!! its perfectly normal. Sometimes there can be a problem, but mostly its due to common factors.

but still..... instead of putting in the 'worrying', some people panic when they see that.... I did, and when they sent me for a scan it scared the crap out of me....... when they told me I could be infertile, I got depressed so I tried for a baby and had a beautiful little boy!!!!! So personally I don't listen to docters, I spent a year thinking I would be childless because of something a docter told me!!! But when Rhys was born, I felt like the luckiest person alive!!!!

To be honest the Melodie, it just sounds like you are delibertley nit-picking, when i don't see much of a need for it at all.

Hiya
The medical term for mising periods is 'Amenorrhea' - there are loads of reasons for it (probably, as Luci said, yours simply haven't settled down yet). We have an article on it here if you want to know more:
