Had my second lot of blood results back today and there is 2 enzymes coming from my liver that are showing up as being really high. He said he would expect the levels like that from someone drinks about 40 pints per week, so he is sending me up the hospital to rule out all forms of hepatitis and and other stuff. He reckons it could be some kind of infection. Just how does one get a liver infection and how are they treated?

First question - who knows, probably why we get kidney infections, and every other infections - infiltration by bacteria/viruses.

2nd - Antibiotics [if bacteria], antivirals etc etc

Did he tell you which enzymes were raised?

LFT Info (http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/27000446/)

You can certainly get liver abscesses, but these are usually as a result of exotic travel and you could expect to be more generally unwell. Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver and has many causes, including viral and autoimmune.

Wait and see what the specialist says.

Not sure which were raised but he did say two were. The blood levels have been pretty much the same for quite a while, I was quite ill with a virus a couple years back and I think the blood levels raised and kept rising since then from what I saw on my chart.

When I had an ultra sound on my stomach, the doc had a look at my liver as well and all was fine but the bloods were still raised, werid.
