if you are in the early stage of pregnancy, around 5/6 weeks, and you get almost constant bleeding for about a week or so, does it more than likely mean you will have a miscarriage??its not me, someone i know. cheers

Any bleeding during early pregnancy needs to get checked out ASAP. I'd highly recommend your friend gets checked out - now.

That's very worrying, my advice go to the nearest hospital or your doctors as soon as possible. A miscarriage can be damaging if left untreated!

yeah she has been to the dr who said it didnt look good but didnt say whether it was a miscarriage or not, she is going for a scan soon. was just wondering if there was any chance that the bleeding is from something else.

Some time after conception, there's a slight amount of bleeding called implantation bleeding, where the blastocyst 'burrows' itself into the uterus walls.
However, at this stage, any bleeding would be seen as a threatened miscarriage. As the embryo would be so small at this stage, it would be difficult for your friend to know if she had passed anything, and a doctor would need to perform a scan to examine if a miscarriage has occured. Taking a pregnancy test would be ineffective as pregnancy hormones can remain in the body for a couple of weeks after a miscarriage or abortion etc.
But I really would suggest that she goes to hospital now. If she has miscarried, there's a chance that some tissue is still in the uterus, and it can cause a bad infection if left, so she might need a D&C to empty the uterus.
Hope she's ok.
