I am thinking of buying one, I played on a demo of wario whatever in Woolworths and loved it!! I always liked Nintendo but when I saw the graphics on Zelda for the GC it made me decide to boycott them, well perhaps it's time to give them a 2nd chance :p. Do you think it's worth it? All the comparisons I've seen of it against the PSP rate it much higher, and I personally think it's a great console, but there are only a few games for it out at the moment, do you think developers will pick up on it? The Gameboy advance didn't have a huge influx of game developers. Although there have been rumours a Halo / Halo 2 could come out for the DS, which would make it superior to all :D

Opinions and comments?

You can play game boy advance games on it, not original or colour ones though.

GTA Game for DS? :chin: With the way sony have worked in the past, they'll buy up all the rights, with the PSP you buy the games not the console (which is actually defective in lots of cases already )

Yeah, I noticed alot of PSP's were broken. Haha. Let me guess, this means the PSP games will be a rip-off? Like PS2 ones I reakon.

Sony buying the rights? Hope not, I hate the way they did that. Grr! GTA is availible for hte Game Boy though.

Only advance games? darn!

DS is fun though, I want to play one again now.

A friend of mine has one, he got it pre-release. I ddon't know much about game consoles, but I really like it, its kinda cool how it has two screens. Anyway, I recommend it!

PS2 a rip off? you live in a twisted version of reality.

gta is being developed for the PSP for a release this year, I would imagine that since there was a gta on GBA that exclusivity contracts may not apply to handhelds, so you might see a release on both. I know there are a number of rockstar people who loved returning to the 2D view of gta advance, so who knows.

Wario ware on the gba is one of my favourite games of all time so I'm tempted to pick one up.

The early reports of dead pixels in PSP screens and the sensor placement for the square button have been resolved, so I would expect no large scale problems with broken hardware. In reality the number broken was tiny and not helped by new players hammering their break button on Ridge Racers for 36 hours solid.

In the world of hand held games Nintendo have all the contacts so expect massive support, the requirement to learn the 3D processors ins and outs on the PSP will probably reduce the chance of a massive line up quickly appearing for the PSP.

Nintendo probably have a great chance at the market but they have already fucked it up with a 100 pound price range. Sorry but it sells for 100 dollars. With a 100 pound plus wario ware touched they could of had the market before the boys toy PSP ever turned up.

So, sadly it looks like the greed of Nintendo (and I love their games but you need to remember they are also a vicious employer and as nasty a corporation as you could imagine - not that sony or microsoft are any better) has pulled a dreamcast.

After all if it sells well in Japan why bother trying to do well any where else?

Oh and you've sadly missed the best and most involved Zelda game ever made - not to mention the upcoming realistic looking Zelda on Gamecube

DS > PSP sony know shit about handhelds and will lose the market,

I'd agree with you if I hadn't seen all the jism flying around in the latest issue of Edge when they reviewed the PSP. It was like a Sony love in. Mind you that never did the Dreamcast any good.

of course on same note the playstation was a pretty much first proper go at a games console and it was arguably the best of its time.

My opinion is that the DS looks ugly and is too big, whereas the PSP is undeniably a sexy looking piece of kit. From what I've seen games wise the DS doesn't look like a massive leap in graphics from the GBA and the Wario game I played was alright. I don't think touch screen technology makes much of a difference to games to be honest, or at least that's the impression I got from the rather shitty Gamecom a few years ago.

The PSP's graphics look superior from what I've seen and the fact that it uses UMD discs means they'll probably be able to have some beasty sized games so I'm holding out for it. Unfortunately the PSP does seem a bit pricey (£189.99 so I hear) compared to the DS though...

more importantly, the ds looks funs to play, and  will be fun, for longer than 3 hours

the graphics i aint too arsed about, since theyre better than n64s as a whole

the psps line up on launch looks very fun with its numerous ea yearly licensed rip off games

Dr Pirate

Just think about the comparisons here tho;

100 quid - you get a double screened N64

130-190 (?) quid - you get a portable PS2, that is going to host movies on those little disc things.

PSP > DS.

ShyBoy

I think I might get the DS :/ definately not going to get the PSP :p. I boycott Sony because I have never liked them. And it's not too late for me to get a GC Jim :p, might get one for my birthday. I just couldn't stand the 'cartoon' graphics, it broke my heart :( Zelda was my life. But yea, Nintendo are great.

And a portable PS2? It's more like a portable PSX, it doesn't have the same power as a PS2 by far. And anyway, don't like the PS2 :p. You wouldn't be able to watch a movie mind, since it has a very short battery life, unless you pay extra for a battery pack - unlike the DS which Nintendo ship with a nice battery.

£95 from amazon (free shipping because it's over £30), with Metroid Prime, sounds like a good deal to me. And played Warioware, so fun :p unrolling the toilet roll!!

I have a Gamecube and it's massive fun though it doesn't have as many games as the X-Box or PS2. It's worth the asking price though, as there are some great games....I bought mine for Resident Evil though :D

That's fantastic. I think sega are a good games producer but their consoles weren't brilliant - Nintendo just has great support from the best games developers in the world. Xbox is just a PC, I already have a PC for PC games. Think I will invest in a GC though, it sounds like a fabulous party machine.

And it has Zelda

Zelda pwnz EVERY game in the world put together..

God.. I remember when Orcania of time was releaesed on the N64, it was a classic although I got stuck in Jaba Jaba's belly for absolutely AGES.. lol..

Tbh.. I love the zelda series, The cartoons was good aswell, if only there was 12 of em,

I did like wind waker but.. I wasn't to keen on the cell shaded charcaters but it was overall a good game, Majora's mask was.. Great, no way as good as Ocarina of time but still a great game, Master quest, basicly the same as Ocarina of time was brillient,

The rest -
Legend of Zelda (NES)
Adventures of Link (NES)
A Link to the Past (SNES)
Link's Awakening (GB)
Link's Awakening DX (GBC)
then there is four swords on the GBA
They're all good imo

*thinks* did i miss any out?

How can anyone slag off the Mega Drive? Or Saturn?

Its a shame, but Xbox pwns all other consoles, best Graphics, and TBH, its getting Doom 3, so better games. Fucking MS taking over everything.

I still love my PC though. How can you play an FPS with a fucknig analouge stick? I tried playing MoH with it. I noticed on the PS2 I could absorb alot more shots before I died. Although I suppose having to aim with the sticky, that is logical.

Gamerankings currently has it as the 6th best game of all time - it's terrifyingly huge, looks stunning (it might not have the draw distance of a PC but close up it's giving recent FPS's a run for their money), and actually feels like a really good movie.

Oh and the over the shoulder view? I almost guarantee you will never see third person game using anything else - it's amazingly effective

Bah, Resident Evil had to give up on terror after it got owned by Silent Hill 2

It's one of the best games I ever played (number 4) but it's an entirely different beast to the other games. Plus changing to a fully rendered setting and losing the control on the camera angle is always going to make it less scary.

That was the REmake. And it wasn't her real mum's face, the way I understand it they sent several women pretending to be her mum (cause she'd died) and Lisa took their faces off. In one of her notes she says something about "same face but not mom, have to give face back to mother".
