Basicly every so often, normally when i've got high traffic my modem goes, the power button goes off, Dsl light and Data light, I pull the Blue USB cord out and put it back in my pc crashes,
I've done a Virus scan with AVG 7.0 no viruses,
I've scanned with Spydoctor, only couple of tracker cookies, did nothing when i got/fixed them
Re installed drivers did nothing still happening,
using alternate USB ports, still nothing
tried two different modems so isn't a modem problem
What else could it be?

Had a problem with mine ages ago, they get power hungry, don't plug it into an extension, plug it into a wall, check the plug and make sure it isn't too hot. Otherwise I would recommend telephoning customer support.

Use Safe Remove.
Failing that, shut down the PC first. Or Reset the modem by pulling out hte power cable and reinserting it.

oh.. ever had BT customer support, your better off asking a lama whats wrong...
I doubt it's the lead/plug as we've never had this problem within the 6/7months of having broadband

Ugh.. you said its USB, right?
Look down there in the corner for a little green arrow, double click it. Click remove hardware.

If you have the stringray shaped USB adsl modem I have heard the power drain on them is a bit high and they cause crashes and problems etc.

You have AOHell BB don't you? I had the same problem with my modem too, the BT Voyager 100 ;< I would be in the middle of nothing in particular and wham. I'm cut off from the net and my PC just hangs.
I just left it a few weeks and it sorted itself out. Why in the name of god would u pull out the USB cable?

Unless there is any kind of problem, in which case you have to spend about 3 days on hold to customer services to sort it out. Unless the system is down, in which case you have to try again later, with another huge wait.

My only complaint about BT is the lack of people that are able to speak good clear Engrish.

Whenever I've phoned they answer within 5 minutes :) also, in over a year of their service we've had one problem, couldn't work out what it was  turned out they'd d/c us for not paying the bill!!

if the problem is your USB modem I do not see how the provider makes any difference whether it is AOL (do you realise how irritating it is to change the names to make 'amusing' puns) or BT should make no difference at all.

My only problem with 99% percent of customers services i've phoned it that lack of anyone who as well as the above, they ALWAYS are reading off a list, when they don't solve it, pass you onto someone, with THE SAME LIST.
So I gave up after asking them if they actualy knew about my problem. They just asked what I meant.

well as of yet you have seemingly not managed to contribute anything of value in this forum I don't see why you just have to make pointless posts like that.
