Beat me to it, that or any of the SSI games. Or look at the gba stuff: fire emblem; ffa tactics; advance wars; onimusha tactics.

Combat Mission is a great semi-animated strategy game as well; top class

:O HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT lol... omg.. Metroid <3 I love the series.. I am currently working through metroid prime one again, just going around picking up artifacts and exapansions then off to the temple :D OMG I so want echo's, wanna gimmie your copy :p
