On my PC my 2 hard drives made like a click sound when I booted my PC the other day, and now all I get is "Strike F1 to reboot or strike F2 to enter setup utility". In BIOS both hard disks and cdrom show as unknown devices.

Both hard drives work because I've tried them on a mates PC.

IF it is possible to get the hard drives and cdrom reconized, I I'll stick in my XP cd and it will go through the process of getting my system ready for a new install, loads files, reformats and then says its gonna reboot in 15 seconds, reboots and the I get an error saying "error cannot read disk".

Anyone got any clues on whats up?

Not sure if it will work, but try only putting in one HDD, then adding the other one after doing a scandisk scan thang.

Check Jumper settings.
Check Ribbon cables are fully plugged in, reseat them to be sure if you wish (On Mobo as well).
Try new Ribbon cables mebbe.
Maybe the newest hard disk inserted in corrupted. Remvoe it.

Already done this above before asking. Think my chip or mobo is naffed. I'll have to tun a hardware test.

have you tried manually configuring the heads cylinders and sectors of the hard disk?

should be written on the hard drive normally or at least the part number of the hard drive will be on it and you can google it.

If you can't do the above (Which is a pain, I haven't done that in ages! Because im lazy...) It might be a dead disk. I just found a 40gb Western Digital like that.

Sorry.
