my laptop got soaked over the weekend. I didn't notice my computer was soaked till i got home after three dyas of being away. It was already dead. It was on and plugged to the internet while the water was spilled. Any idea's what could be the problem...blown fuse, motherboard? What big computer stores would do repairs such as this one?

you can try and get your data off the hard disc, but after that its probly more economical to not bother trying to get the unit repaired

though you could try leaving it upside down and in the airing cupboard of your house and see if that works

My dad brought home a rain soaked portable TV once that he found - he opened it up and left it to dry for over a month before even attempting to switch it on and TV's are nowhere near are tiny inside as a laptop!!

Yarr, leaving it to dry is the only real option before you can even attempt to diagnose if anything is broken inside it.

Otherwise send it to a reputable repair place.

Let it dry out, take out the HDD and try to retreive all the data. CD and Floppy drives might be good. Take it to a shop and have them test the components, buy a new one if its more than about 25% dead.

I bought home a standard PC that had been soaked, noly the PSU was dead, though. Win!

you might have had a chance had you not had it switched it on. Once you have switched it on the water might have created short circuits and what not.

Simple thing to do is claim on your house insurance and get a new Laptop. Those kinda repairs are £££.
