Or something similar..... heres the story (http://politics.guardian.co.uk/eu/story/0,9061,1430651,00.html)
I would expect a UKIP moron to say something like this, but I at least thought someone standing for the Conservatives would have a little bit of sense. No wonder people don't take them seriously.

Yes! They have now lost several thousand votes from Catholics who would have supported them!
Thank God Michael Howard won't get in now. *breaths sigh of releif*

Oh dear.
If it's not the Jews it's the Catholics.

What makes you say that? Labour are clearly terrified of Howard’s Conservative party, polls indicate they have a very good chance of winning the election.

They won't though. It's unfortunate though that so many people are influenced by the right wing press, which is what the Conservatives are pandering too.
If Howard gets in I would leave the country.

Given the incident between the EU and would-be commissioner Catholic fundamentalist Rocco Buttiglione a few months ago, very few people indeed would think of the EU being run by the Catholic Church. Where is this bloke coming from?

yes but he was catholic and asked about his beliefs, he reffered the bog standard answer any catholic would normally give, and while i cant remember what it was or what it related to, it was deemed uncompatible with his duties as a mnister or something and thats what caused the outrage
problem was, whatever his beliefs were, he was tricked into answering

Not quite. Buttiglione has always been quite outspoken about his beliefs actually- and his disgusting views regarding homosexuality (not only that it is a sin and blah blah, but that homosexuals should be discriminated against) would not be shared by many Catholics.
The EU's opposition to him being made a commissioner in fact prompted the Vatican to complain. It's not the first time either: the Vatican has on a number of occasions moaned about "amoral" European governments with their euthanasia and abortion laws and all of that.
The Tory MP who made the comments is clearly not quite right on the head, and would feel more at home at the Ulster Democratic Party. Some of their members claim the Pope is the antichrist so they'd welcome any loony conspiracy theory such as this man's.
