or so the newspapers would have you believe, the general view of the public is pretty disgusting as a result.........the truth is far from it, did anyone see that documentary just now on oakington reception centre for immigrants? was appalling, half the guards and staff are racist bastards, the poor guys get regular mistreatment and beatings...........i was talking to a friend who works for NASS and has been there, at least heads will roll after this doc.............and for everyone who thinks the immigrants are flooding into the country, my friend also told me the ratio of people they grant asylum status to where he works is 1 in 500, i'd say that's a fairly tight immigration policy, wouldn't you?.........

the people in this docu haven't even commited a crime and they get treated like scum ...by scum.
can you begin to imagine what the truth is about our prison system?

I work in the second largest hospital in the country. It is nowhere near London yet about nine out of ten doctors, nurses, neurological asthma researches, technicians; general staff etc are all Asian, Vietnamese or African. I tried to talk to a Japanese looking doctor. He did not speak English. I recall one security personnel who looked as if he had just stumbled out of Somalia. It is pointless to debate with the left about Immigration because, for example, if they woke up the next morning to find every one but them was black, they would happily pull a Wacko Jacko. I am related to Italians, have German relatives, and Indian family so it cannot be racist to say I do not want to live in a multicultural society.
Oh dear :(

LOL, my favourite type of racist - the kind who say " im not racist, some of my best friends are those black B*stards"
Well, it would be funny if so many people didnt actually seem to think that way.

I missed it, but it shouldn't take a documentary for these issues to be noticed by those in charge.
Asylum seekers, genuine and bogus, are treated appallingly by the general public and this hatred and prejudice is fuelled by tabloid propaganda. It's an absolute disgrace in this so-called tolerant country of ours.

it's not his fault, he was born slippy, probably got dropped on his head a couple times........racism is a funny word tho, is it racist to say black people are in general better athletes/basketball players? and i was talking with a black friend today about how everyone is racist in some ways, like for instance if im walking down the street and a black dude with hoody, swagger et al walks by i feel more wary than if it was a white dude, i just do.....but if it was a black dude in a suit i prolly wouldn't think twice, i personally think this has something to do with growing up in an all white area, i have read books about how the pre-frontal cortex has to make quick assessments about danger, like in an instant before the brain can think about it logically.....and this is often based on previous associations/experience......he reckons it is because the 'black stereotype' is reinforced in society, and in some cases black people even believe that to be how they are, further reinforcing this stereotype......and black people are statistically more likely to get stopped and searched, which means the police force is racist?.........but im getting off topic here.

Thing is, with the British public, alot of them now want higher wages, as so many working class people beleive they are middle class. (Sad but true. I know so many people like this.) This makes it cheaper for employers to employ immigrants who will happily work for the minimum wage, because they were being terribly exploited back home in third world country x, by large corporations looking for slave labour.
So, it is sadly a necassarty thing forced upon us. Immigration is blown out of proportion by papers like the Daily Mail and all its other little facist offsprings.

Eh? So working class people should "know their place" and stick to it?

um. what?
I want higher wages. it's not cause i think i'm middle class or whatever you're on about.
you try getting a credit card/mortgage/loan/credit agreement on a minimum wage job and see how far you get. forget about a family, just try to feed, clothe and house yourself. then come back and explain how people want to be middle class.

What does "happily pull a Wacko Jacko" mean? Why don't you want to live in a multicultural society? What do you mean by multicultural? Is that a synonym for multiracial? Or something else?

And you're saying immigration is a bad thing? It might be for the countries these people are leaving, but the way I see it we dont have to pay to train these people, its a bonus.

Wouldn't worry too much about Born Slippy's comments...
Anyways. Yes, I saw much of the programme and it was appalling and disgraceful. The current climate of hatred, lies and prejudice regarding immigration is partly to blame. As is the government, for contracting out jobs that should never be left to private companies.

It is similar to interviews I have seen with guards guarding 'terror suspects' you get the same sort of responses, 'these are bad people' 'they dont deserve this or that'.
Its dehumanisation which ultimately leads to people treating others in the most horrid ways.

Was this sarcastic?
Do you know what proportion of people in the developed world have ever worked for an MNC?
Just because they didn't get paid much at home it doesn't mean they wree being exploited. It just shows that they come form a poor country, we live in a rich coountry. Perhpas they better appreciate what they can get having come forma low starrting point........

Uhm... I'm sure most of them have come to the UK to work, rather than being Asylum seekers.

No it's not a bad thing. You got it right when you said it was bad for the countrys they were leaving. Another thing - all the immagrint docters and staff I have talked with agree with this, but they claim the pay here is so much better they "have no choice". A huge hospital is nearly completly run by immagrints, wouldnt these educated people make a real influene in their own countrys if the goverment put the time and money into helping these people so they don't feel the need to leave in the first place?

.........if the goverment put the time and money into helping these people so they don't feel the need to leave in the first place?
what would you suggest? in the end it comes down to money, pure and simple, they can't afford to keep them there...........not compared to the UK anyways........there are those who put the job above money, which is noble, but pretty rare......

Hang on a minute. In your original post you stated that you didn't want to live in a multicultural society. Now you're bothered about the effect immigration has on other countries? Which is it?
