Hi
G/F and i are always careful with the whole safe sex thing... problem is that shes 3 days late for her period. Getting just a tiny bit worried now, are periods usually late or does it vary from one girl or the other?
Also after how many days should we be getting worried enough to warrant seeing a doctor or preg test?

In answer to your 2 questions

~ Every girl varys as to weather her period is late or not.

~ 3 days late you could do a pregnacy test or you could wait and see if her period comes.

good luck whateva happens

preg test?
It's the only way to stop your worrying.

many girls will find they get irregular periods. chances are she's fine and if you've been careful then she should be ok. but, the only way to find out is to do a pregnancy test.

he first response test is the best one
clear blue is good too.
do the test... it will stop you worrying.
but as a lot of people have already said, after being only 3 days late, she could get her period soon... it's quite common to be irregular.
i personally wouldn't start to worry unless i was a week or so late TBH.

Does she feel like she is going to come on? I think most girls know i few days before, sore boobs, bloated stomach etc. Dont want to worry you but i fell pregnant when i was on the pill. Think you should do a test just to be sure.

first of all it depends on whether your partner is regular or not, if she is then she may well be pregnant but theres lots of things than can effect the timings such as stress (and you cant get much more stressful than an unplanned pregnancy) diet, illness etc. I would get a test done as soon as possible so that you know one way or the other, hope it works out for you.

Shut up. If you have nothing helpful to say, don't say anything.

What type of contraception are you using? Condoms/the pill?

If you are using condoms it is normally fairly obvious when they have failed because the condom splits has this happened to you at all?
Unless she is on the pill, it is unlikely that her periods are going to be like clockwork, some people have slight changes in their cycle from month to month and this is perfectly normal. But if you are still worried the best option is to take a pregnancy test, you can pick up superdugs own brand ones from about a fiver, and most can be used on the first day of a missed period.

Good luck :)

Hey... thanks for all the comments people!
Well we decided to get a pregnancy test done and it has come back negative and gf insisted on doing this 3 times. She still hasn't gone onto her period so just to make sure she's going to the docs on Tuesday. At least the stress of not knowing whether she preg or not is over. She has been under a certain amount of stress recently so this could be the cause. Thanks!

Yes stress can delay periods, and delayed periods can cause stress it's a vicious cycle!
With 3 negatives i would say you are pretty much in the clear, it's good that you are going to the docotors to double check, although just so you know the tests they use there have pretty much the same acurracy as the ones you cna buy over the counter.

The effictiveness off the pill depends on how correctly you take it, if she had s children while taking the pill correctly then she is a very unlucky lady.

Main reason for her going to the docs is for her to go back onto the pill, she panics too much even when her period is even 2 days late. With condoms and the pill in place will just give an extra peace of mind i guess... oh i'm making the most of the situation :naughty:

Can I be the only person to point out the the best time for worrying is actually before you have sex.

Okay, no form of contraception (except abstinence) is 100% effective, but you should consider that the worry before is hugely less than the worry after...
