A women with sense.
it comes from knowing that they make your nails about as strong as paper :/

My sister had silks or something applied - not quite sure what that means or if I got the right term, but basically rather than extensions they just strengthened her nails so that they grew better. You could look into that, think it's cheaper, too.

its layers of silk glued onto the nail....still rather nasty if you want it off

acrylics will DEFINITELY make your nails weaker, not stronger...
also.. they're tacky and ugly anyways.. don't do it...
if you want your nails to be stronger buy nail strengthening stuff..
i don't know what companies and whatnot you guys have over there
so i can't really recommend anything...

I once paid £10 for nails and pedicure, including hand design. The nail lady who does it lives a few doors down.

Hate false nails, looks cheap sometimes. I am lucky that I am able to grow my nails. Getting a luxary manicure tomorrow to keep them in tip top shape.

I remember a good few years ago when I was over in Guernsey I got gel nail extension done. Now I have really short nails as I bite them, but always wanted long nails. And I swear see the first week of having them on, I hated them... cause I had trouble doing the simplest things, like buttoning me coat/top, typing, etc. haha
Just found it was just not me at all. Plus they were hell to get off. I can't have long nails now with the work I do now anyway.

I wore acrylics for about a year. Used to get them done at a nice nail bar, they were very nice and neat but they grew out very quick (my nails have always grown v fast) so after spotting an acrylic set in Boots for £20 (includes everything you need) I decided to have a go myself. Its a bit tricky at first, but you soon get the hang of it. And I used to put mine on lower than they did at the salon meaning they didnt grow out as quick :) hoorah! And if you happen to break one theres no need to rush to the salon and you can do it yourself!
