Living with people that already know each other

I live in a student house with 19 other people, at the end of this year 17 of those people will be moving out as they are final years and the two remaining i dont not get on with, there nice enough but there a couple and keep themselves to themselves.

So anyway 16 rooms in the house are being rented to a gang of 2nd year lads that all know each other which im not to impressed about. (i know i have no rite to say who they get rented to ect ect) The fact that its 16 lads i have no problem with, i tend to get on with lads better anyway as a general rule and i live with 15 lads at the moment anyway and most of them are ok apart from the resident psyco.

its just the fact that they all know each other and i know that im going to end up being the house goozeberry kinda thing.

I cant see the point in moving anywere else as i dont know anyone to move in with so if i did i would be moving into either a large house in the same set up (all of which have higher rent than mine - mine has stayed the same as i have been here for a few years) or a small house where they are one person short for the lease which would be an even worse situation if i was with 4 people that knew each other. moving in on my own isnt really an option as i get very lonley so just knowing that someone else is somewere in the house is a comfort. on the pluss point i really like where im living at the moment, the house is in a loverly area of town, for the last few years i have fallen on my feet and made some really good friends here.

so basically what i am trying to ask amidst all that waffle lol is has anyone moved into a house with a group where everyone was friends bar them?

couple are now not staying either so

19 rooms in the house

1 = me
16 = gang of lads that know each other
2 = ?????

basically what is going to happen

I wouldnt want to, but its not me whos doing it. Youre the only one who can answer that, but I dont think id like that situation at all.

I moved in with 3 people who were already close and I didn't know them at all, but after just a few months we're best buddies. You have, like, 16 people to choose from, and out of all those people you'll definitely find at least a few you click with. Even if you don't end up being life long pals, I'm sure you have other friends out there. Just be chatty, friendly and try and socialise with a few of the new lads and it'll develop from there.

By the way, what's wrong with you moving out and living with a smaller group of girls and boys, so it won't be so intimidating?

i know how it feels, i spent 3 weeks in a house with 12 belfast boys that hung about with each other and i dind't feel very welcome, i just couldn't unwind and be myself, i felt i had to impress them or somethig so yea know how ya feel.

Living with a group of 16 lads might seem to be nice but without girls you might get a bit lonely and miss doing girly things.

I moved into a house with one of my best friends and another girl and lad we'd never met. Don't talk to the lad but me and the 2 girls get along great - she doesn't feel left out or anything - I hope!

What are your other options?

i dont really have many other options other than moving back into halls or replying to one of the "one more person needed" adds.

its not the fact that there lads that bother me as i live with 15 lads at the moment. iv even learnt to like top gear lol :p

I'm in halls right now in small flats of 6 people. The flat across from me and ours are very close and all hang out together (that's 12 people give or take a few) and we had a new exchange student move in this term. She's settled in quite well and been fairly easily adopted into our group, so it can be done. I'd just go for it if you want to, and it sounds like you do - but I do agree with the person who said you may miss girly company. Only 4 out of the 12 of us are girls but it does make a bit of a difference. Do you have a girl friend maybe who'd be interested in moving in as well?

well all the rooms have been rented now and its me and 18 guys, im not really bothered as long as i dont end up acting as their mum lol.

me and the 15 guys i live with now get on really well so i cant see it being a problem i think i was just over reacting.

and the landlord has promised to stick a shower in the alcove in my room and box it off into a little room so i wont have to share a shower with them if they turn out to be smelly trolls lol :p

This 'bad aim' thing is overplayed. Maybe one of them is simply incontinent. :p

u can tell wen someone has dripped cos it leaves a shiney drip on the lyno lol. (not that i have studied it in great depth)
