Hi All,

I have just moved house and am trying to set up a wireless network so that I can use my laptop to connect to the internet anywhere in the house.

I was having problems with the Wireless router when I first got it (it's a3Com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router) actually logging into the isp but it recognised the ADSL cable and ethernet cable and I was able to log into the router to play with setting etc.

My folks have just got a new pc which I am now trying to instal the router on having given up on the old pc. For some reason the routher seems to shut itself off as soon as the adsl recognises a signal (I know I phrased that wrong). I thought it was a problem with the power cable as I plug it in, turn it on and it stays on for about 30 seconds and then loses power. However, yesterday I turned it on with only the power cable in and it was fine, as soon as I plugged the adsl line in it stayed on for 30 seconds and then the power went off again!

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing it?

Thanks
Sam

I don't know, but that sounds like a piece of faulty hardware to me.

You just moved house? So you're on a different phone exchange which may have different equipment in it, two main suppliers are Fujitsu and Siemens I think and I had a problem 2 years ago when my fujitsu modem didn't work at my house cos of the exchange but a MRi or BT's own modem worked fine and I tried 3 different fujitsu modems.

Is that something that bt could tell me? if it was equipment at the exchange I mean?
