I need to dump a friend. Well, he is not even a friend. He never has been and probably never will be, but I need to get rid of him.

Recently, this guy has taken to hanging out with me around school, and even tried to hang out with me at a party at the weekend, and he is never out of my face, and he is literally in my face a lot of the time! It's not like this guy is desperate for some companionship, because he has quite a few friends, but he has taken to annoying me. He is always following me around, treating me as if I am his best friend of many years, when he really is not; asking for my food, rubbing my hair, putting his arm around me like we are pissed in a bar.

I try my hardest to avoid him, but he always finds a way. Last week we had our mocks, and we were just waiting outside the mock room, and I couldn't tolerate anymore, so I shot off to the toilet, and a few seconds later he followed me in, and talked to me as I was pissing. Fair enough if he had come in for a reason, but all he did was get a paper towel out of the dispenser and then threw it in the bin outside the toilet without even using it. This is how extreme it has got.

Can't you just tell him straight?

I should really have added that. I have. I have said "Please, just go away. Seriously, you are really pissing me off." and he just found my getting wound up amusing (a lot of people do, for some reason :|) and just shrugged it off.

I guess you're just gonna have to tell him something along the lines of 'Listen, I don't like you, never have, I'm not your mate, now get the fuck out of my face and keep out of my way'.

And if he found that amusing, I'd have to land one on him. (obviously I'm not reccommending that ;))

Well, it does sound like he is, unless it's too late at night for me to be thinking straight... (no pun intended)

I shouldn't laugh but... :p

He does indeed sound very irritating. how about if you just erm, everytime he comes near you, run away and he might get the message? though i suspect that he might come running after you.

you could just have a sly word and say he's starting to annoy you. it sounds like you're gonna have to be blunt though so he gets the message.

Must admit i did lean towards thinking that maybe this guy has sexual feelings but then again he could just be really lonely.

The Doc - is this lad a bit of a loner or does he have other mates round school? Have you ever sat down and sort of showed him any attention in a matey way? Just asking because if he is lonely/shy/friendless then maybe hes decided you're a good person to be a mate with. Maybe he's not socially up on how to behave with mates so doesn't realise too much how much he is annoying you.

I'd probably just pull him to the side and tell him that you're straight, you're pissed off and it's got to stop. Also try asking him why he's following you?

Nope. As I said (I'm reiterating, not having a dig), he does have plenty of close mates, but has taken to doing this anyway.

It's rediculous now though. I spent lunchtime in the girls' form room next door so that I didn't have to talk to him. The only thing I can think of is to have a word with a couple of his mates, and see if something has happened between them that would make him not want to hang out with them anymore, but I fear that would make me come over quite arrogant - "please take your silly little friend away because he annoys me".

I said that mainy because he's hugging him and touching his hair and stuff. I'm lonely too and I've been even more, but I wouldn't do that...

Everyone touches my hair. Apparently it is very fun to touch, so I doubt him touching my hair has anything to do with physical attraction or flirting.
