Shouldnt this be in the Work section?
I presume you mean the governmental disclosure, as in from www.disclosure.gov
I have had to in the past, they arent complicated, you just phone up and say you want one, normally the company pays for it.
If you've got a record though it will show up. Are you getting the normal one or the extended one?

I had to fill one in before I was accepted onto my Nursing course. It's very straightforward and only shows up any existingor pending convictions.
Is pretty like a passport or driving license application, in terms of what you have to fill in - name, dob, address and all the usual. Then you have to sign your consent that all the given info is correct, and that you agree to having the check on your criminal record done.
You also need proof of I.D, which for this can be a huuuge number of things, although often you don't need to provide this yourself as the company or people who are asking you to have the check done will sort this out. Same goes for payment. Although obviously if you're having it done independently, you'll need to shell out :)

Yeah I think i've had one of those, I did some part time cleaning work in a school, even though it was after they'd finished and gone home I still had to have the check done, better safe than sorry, I guess.

I had to fill one of those out when I took on a childcare course. They are really long and if you make a simple mistake it gets sent back which is very annoying

Yes, easy to fill out and stuff. Quite expensive if you are just getting one yourself I think. Most companies that require you to have one will pay for one.
JsT I think we can safely crown you the official thesite sex pest. :p

If you have been accepted for work involving substantial contact with children or vulnerable adults, for example, work in the healthcare sector, work as a childminder, or as a social worker, your employer should ask you to fill in a standard disclosure (criminal records check). If your job will mean you'll be supervising children or vulnerable adults, or being in sole charge of them you will be asked to complete an enhanced disclosure. This is the same as the standard one- although it will include additional information from the police.
You can get more information (http://www.disclosure.gov.uk/index.asp?fuseaction=commquest&act=1&cat=2) about this

Do I actually need to stick proof of who I am in with it? like my passport or driving license?
:eek2:
I rang them today and I only need a basic one - although I thought I'd need a standard one *shrugs* and I do believe I'm the one that has to cough up for it

I've had to do these a couple of times.
We did the full one before Christmas and had to take 3 proofs of ID, one photo and 2 with the address eg driving licence, bank statement, utility bill, mobile phone bill, passport etc.
Then they wrote back and said I had overlapping addresses because I'd put down my home address and my student address as current. You can't win with these people. I had to write my addresses for the past 5 years and state my term dates so that they could change my address every time I went home for the holidays.
There's nothing on the blinking record anyway.

so do I need to put proof of ID in with it since its just a basic one?
You wouldn't think becoming cabin crew would be THIS much of a hassle really..?

We sent photocopies, not originals - if you're using a bank statement or credit card statement, you just need the bit with your address, not any of the payment details.
I'd assume the ID part would be the same whether you have the basic or full CRB. Either ways it's a pointless hassle*.
*Not strictly true.
Cabin crew could hijack planes I suppose ;)
