my hair seems to be getting curlier as i get older. but it's not a good curly. it's irregular and poofy, and makes me look like some kind of 70s nightmare.

i usually straighten it, for fear of scaring small children (and/or being mistaken for a lion), but i'd love to be able to make it do that sexy curly thing, just for a change.

but how the hell do you do it?

I've got naturally frizz-ball-esque hair. If I leave it to dry naturally it will frizz in ringlets (not nice ringlets, 100% pure frizz!) but I can get nice curls if I use a good serum and use a diffuser on my hairdryer, tip head upside down and voila - lovely curls. I stopped using John Frieda as it stained the neck/back of all my clothing.

I also straighten my hair to within an inch of its life as my hair is shoulder length, and if I left it curly it would be like a small un-lit bonfire on top of my head! To be quite honest I'm not sure how my hair doesn't fall out, I dye it red every 5 weeks and straighten it every day but my hairdresser says its in top condition.

My hair is a bitch for being wavey and it looks like this if i just leave it to dry naturally and then dare i say brush it

something resembling a birds nest :p

Curls are such hard work but can look really good if done properly, so what i do, if i can be bothered with the hassle :p Is use a curl boostng moose or a really good serum and kind of scrunch my hair up while its damp to like excentuate the kinks and let it dry naturally like this but while it is drying keep on scrunching my hair.
The moose/serum helps define the curls and because my hair is wavey they don't drop out.

Another thing you could try is curling tonges these accentuate the natural wave/curl that you have already you can pick good ones up in argos for about £20 and because my hairs naturally wavely inclined the results last ages and it can sometimes look a lot tidier than when you try and curl it your self.

Ohhh and i forgot to add never brush your hair after you have curled it or boom instant frizz. This is why straighteners have been my best friend for the past 2 and a half years

i'll have a go, at some point. i need to invest in a hairdryer anyway, cause i exploded mine umm...drying my socks...*cough* and have been using my mums. the one she got as a wedding present (30 years in april. i shit you not) which is about as powerful as a squirrel farting, and is only slightly quicker than letting it dry naturally. anyway, yeah, hairdryer with diffuser...

the thing that annoys me is that when my hair is damp, it falls into these amazing huge loose ringlets, and looks fab, but as it dries out, some undo themselves, some do weird wavy things, some look exactly the same, and some bits dry almost straight. and then the poofyness. if only i could get it to stay the same as when it's damp.
