ie religion race or what not

whats your take on it, i say its misguided selfish and stupid but still somewhat understandable since like you want to still have mini yous that can associate with you in the future

dont give a toss myself though

a good example would be my best mate whose halfcast, he sees himself as more black than white, like that part stands out more and makes him feel proud of how he aint like most people in england - he still gets on great with both sides of family but its disconcerting he does associates more with one side than other dont you, only reason i associate with only one side is cause my father was a twat who hit my mum and his parents etc are dead now

just a odd rant really, but it just makes you think of how strong human pride is in standing out

Being "different", which your friend automatically is by being mixed (I really dislike the term halfcast), in most cases means feeling alienation. People naturally want others they can relate to, and it is easier feeling connection to a minority than the other way around.

Personally I relate very much to the Jewish community, but on the other hand I am very much "Danish" and when talks are about immigrants and refugees I don't feel that the talks are about me or my parens, despite of that being the case (dad = refugee, mom = immigrant).
I also feel it important that when I in 20 year time get married and have kide (*shudder*) to raise my kids Jewish and with a sense of their background and culture.

thats what i think, identities change

oh and my mate refers to himself as halfcast :p so its entirely appropiate for one of his best mates to use it, sinceit aint meant in a bad way

i think its good to keep some of your family heritage...gives you a sense of where you come from...like when i get married and have kids (some day) i will want them to teach them a bit about islam and if i marry someone of a different religion i guess id give them the best of both worlds like my parents have done with us
