Completed it over the weekend :). Can I ask without spoiling though, what happens to the gravity gun near the end? I just got confused :( but was still immensely fun :D
that thing that stole your stuff, sorta uber charged tyhe gravity gun
Bloody hell.
It's just Half Life 1 in high res kids.
With a shoddy anti-piracy system.
It's still just a shooty-gun-game.

Can't say I had any problems with the anti-piracy system. And I never played HL 1 so don't care too much about that either.

It's actually a content-distribution system - if you want a pirated copy of half life 2 it's amazingly easy to get one, with the source code being stolen and all...
but its also easy to track who is using a pirated copy of half life, and not all of the source code was stolen
and saying its like half life 1 but with shiny graphics, thats like saying once you have seen one episode of a tv show you have seen them all, might be different content, but its still the same show, if you catch my drift
but the thing is that graphics are half the fun with something like this

There is one part of the game where you are outside this building, with loads of your resistance mates, and you see these crablike things walking and killing them, and you can actually see the fear in their faces as the crouch behind whatever they can and just fire away in the futile hope it actually goes down, which it doesn't :p (because i ran away, thinking i couldn't destroy them)
the bit where you first come out of the station into the open air, even when i had found out and realised where i was supposed to be going, i still explored to look at the graphics and play with the broken bottles, oh my its fun

yep. The graphics are very impressive indeed. The detailing on the models and the background objects is very good. I'm not sure how it scales down to lower end cards but with all the stuff at high detail it looks very realistic, which just helps with the immersion.
the steam distribution thingy also mean that everything is kept up to date with patches and stuff.
mine isnt the bestest ended card, but shows most of the graphics up
tis bloody good i tells ye

i wouldn't mind seeing a comparison to be honest to see how it scales. I put some pics on zee thingy (http://pics.livejournal.com/mrmist/gallery/00003f76)

I'm surprised there are so many recommendations here - I haven't played it myself but I know quite a few who have. Not particularly bad reviews but not amazing either, I think maybe there was too much hype.

I've taken a few pics. I'm running the game using a geforce ti4200:

Two (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Patchwork_andy/insidehl.jpg)
Three (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Patchwork_andy/hl3.jpg)
Four (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Patchwork_andy/hl4.jpg)
I honestly couldn't tell you if Half Life 2 is the original with spiffier graphics but I do know that I've never really came across a level quite like Ravenholm before :nervous:
