Abroad for aid work

I wanna go abroad and do aid work, but have no idea where to start. Apparently Oxfam do it but there's no links to anything on their website (the site I was given and lost had a few initials and then volunteers.org as a web address of somethin?).

I'd like to help out abroad in a developing country, basically doing what I can but how do I get in to it? or is it pretty exclusive?
