Are there any songs that put you in a depressed state?
Not depressed as in really depressed, but more as making you slow down and think?
Songs that do it for me (mostly metal) are:
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Ozzy Osborne - N.I.B.
Blind Guardian - The Quest for Tanelorn
Demons & Wizards - Fiddler On The Green
And many songs from Maiden, such as:
Infinite Dreams
Still Life
Journeyman
Wasting Love
Children Of The Damned
Fortunes Of War
and many more...
So, which songs make you slow down?
I'm just curious.:D
Edited some spelling mistakes
theres a few songs that make me feel sad although im not quite sure why
to name them there is
new found glory- dressed to kill
puddle of mudd- blurry
all american rejects - swing swing
finch- letters to you
green day- time of your life
green day- give me novacaine
hoobastank- the reason
the killers- mr brightside
glassjaw- ape dos mil
most coldplay songs
once again, im not sure why !
Metallica- Fade to black
Chris Isaak- Wicked game
Mariah Carey- One sweet day
En Vogue- dont let go
I think that when people think of songs which invoke emoitions it's usually because the song has a particular meaning to them, not just because the song sounds happy or sad.

As many as I could remember right now. You wouldn't know the last one (I translated the name and band) but I put it there because it's my favourite song (sorry, I had to).
The one by Helloween is simply amazing...

Radiohead - Creep
Snow Patrol - Run
Evanescence - My Immortal
The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work
R.E.M - Everbody Hurts
Also Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love 'cause they played that music on the Sky One advert for the episode where Cordelia died in Angel! It's kinda heartwrenching because they both loved each other :'(
Probably more but I can't think of 'em at the mo

Rufus Wainwright's version of it probably, from the "Shrek" soundtrack. The Jeff Buckley version of the song is also painfully sad, as is every version I think except the Leondard Cohen original which has a whole different meaning to me. That said, Famous Blue Raincoat totally fucks me up.
The entirity of Jeff Buckley's Grace is painfully beautiful.
Despite the [probable] intention of being a positive, wondrous song, What a Wonderful World is unbearably sad to me, whomever is performing it.
America by Simon and Garfunkel.
Eels' Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor, understandably.
The River and Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen.
Buckets of Rain by Bob Dylan
River sung by Joni Mitchell is absolutely heartbreaking. As is Both Sides Now.
Who Are You by Tom Waits is a definitive sad song for me, though I could listen to it on repeat for hours.
Twenty-four Hours by Joy Division and Black Eyed Dog by Nick Drake, also.
Into the Mystic by Van Morrison is one of my favourite songs ever. It also makes me want to throw myself off a bridge, in a good way.
Obviously I have more issues than I thought :eek2: ;)
