My fellas pc has been running really slow recently and he kept gettin loads of pop ups. Ive had to install a pop up stopper on there which I downloaded from the net. Anyway now we keep getting thrown out of programs, when we open internet it says the blueyonder page cannot be opened then you press ok and it goes to page cannot be displayed screen. Then when you do access sites, they either dont function properly or throw us out. Not only that alot of porno sites have appeared in the address box and pop ups.

He has downloaded some music so maybe thats where its all come from?

I did a virus check the other day and there was literally loads of viruses that come up, thing is it said they were all healed but
theres still no change. I think the viruses have gone into quarantine and dunno what to do from there. Im unable to use my normal virus scan (Panda) because of the internet problems.

The virus scan (AVG) the other day said there is a trojan on the pc, eAccelerator spyware or something and Claira Adware??
I havent got a clue how to get em off and how to keep em away aswell so any help is much appreciated!

Oh, dunno if it will make any difference but in the next week or so when my fellas took all his stuff off the pc we have gotta try and do a factory restore because the cd tray keeps opening and closing for no reason and it drives us mad. Had to uninstall and reinstall it the other day to see if made a difference it did but only a bit so the helpline told us to do a factory reset if that dont work then its a faulty cd tray.

Would a factory restore take the viruses away or not?

A restore is extreme but should sort the problems, yes. Disconnect the machine from the Internet whilst you restore.

Once you have restored, get hold of AVG, some firewall software, and Ad-Aware, install them and use them often.

I do not really know. I use AVG which I have no problems with, and is free. I use ad-aware personal which is also free. I do not use a software firewall because the router has one built in. Some people use Zone Alarm or windows xp sp 2 has one built in.

A sfotware firewall is also good for denying applications access to the Internet. Sygate Pro is good, the free edition is also ok.

We used to have that zone alarm but my fella used to get mad with it popping up and asking for permission for different things that he didnt have a clue about, nor did I sometimes but I just pressed deny!!

Im sure we still used to get pop ups with it thou so if I was to reinstall that just install the adaware too?

sounds like he's got alot of spyware and crap on there... you say you cant download new stuff to his pc cos of the internet probs, but could you download to your pc, put it on a cd and put it on his pc?

you can grab adaware from here (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/)

I think first you really need to format...

then don't forget to protect...
