You don't see many 50-year-old Goths floating around the towns do you? This would imply that all Goths grow out of being Goths. Just a thought.

By the time they reach 21 they realise they look like a fucking prick and revert to normality.

There's a guy on my course at uni who is 37 and a goth. Plus I saw a gang of 50 year old goths in a pub the other night.

But yeah, most grow out of it!

My auntie and uncle are goths, and are like fifty-somethings. They have lots of gothy friends of similar ages too.

You know how I hate to disagree with you Tum, but y'know, had to be done. ;(

Not really, you might see the odd goth though but they wouldn't really be classified as a gothic though, they'd be more of a hippy just with long hair and 'hippy' clothes, not all black clothing and black makeup.

i stood in a busy nottingham street a couple of years back waiting for someone to come out of a shop.
suddenly about fifty elvis presleys appeared and not one of them was under 40.
oh my fragile mind ...

people who are goths may be goths when they grow up, i mean old people dress like old people cos that's what they wore when they were younger, right?

I think there are, but they tend not to dress in the same way as the younger ones might. They have an old person image to uphold and have to look smart. Or something.

It occured to me earlier that you get some relatively pretty goth girls going out with (assuming that's what all the holding hands implies) a lot of ugly, hairy, greasy goth guys.

That implies that a lot of ugly (male) weirdos turn to gothness because they can't get a shag any other way.

You also don't tend to get a lot of ethnic minority goths either (unless pale white counts as an ethnic minority), and I've never seen a disabled goth or a single parent goth either.

I wonder what this tells us?

They've probably finally succeeded in topping themselves after 50 years practise.

Or perhaps Darwin was right all along.

Who knows.

That ethnic minorities are generally more attractive than 'us'?

There was a goth night in a my student union about a month ago and the place was filled with loads of old goths with big bellies and match stick legs. I had a dance with them...

You must be walking around with your eyes shut.

Try having a look around london pubs before you make generalisations about 'older goths' not existing...

The Eerie Pub Co. specialise in pubs for 'goths' - go in an Eeerie pub any time of the day and you'll find goths of many ages. Particularly over the age of 25.

I'm mates with a 30 something yr old single parent goth too. So maybe you're just not looking hard enough...?

Did he say they don't exist? No? STFU then heeb :)

Besides, he doesn't even live in London.

Even if he did live in London, why in Gods name would he want to go into an Eerie pub? Goths drinking a depressant really can't be a good mixture.

Find where I said any of that, fucker.

I seriously hate people like you. People who think that they are somehow more educated on matters than the more normal ones amongst us 'who can never understand'.

What good is a 30 year old Goth to me when I'm practically aiming this towards OAPs?

The first Goth I ever listen to and/or take any notice of, and I end up regretting it. Time to go write a poem about my experience.
