View Full Version : Please help its becoming a problem! :(

hey people any help will be apriciated.

i have a pc running windows XP.

i hav 3 user accounts on here, mine, my dads, and my sisters.
whenever i try to download a file from the internet on my user account, it will not work. i get an error saying ' internet explorer cannot download file.exe from www.website.com.
internet explorer was unable to open this internet site.
the requested site is either univalible or cannot be found. please try again later. '

i know its not the website because ive tryed downloading many files from many sites. none of them will work, yet, when loged on to my dads user account, or my sisters, it works fine.

i have no idea what this problem is but its becoming very frustrating so any help is welcome.

It could be that you dnt have administrater right on you account.

no i do have mine set to administrator...
its always worked but in the last 2 weeks it just wont download

maybe your dad's changed the permissions so you cant download stuff :p

unfortunately theres nothing you can do about that besides ask him to change it if he has...

he'd still have to download the browser :p

Most likely this is down to permissions. Either browser restrictions or with actually saving the file. Do you have a restricted user account?

there is a difference between administrator, normal user and restricted user

yet the over all owner account, or any of the admin accounts can reduce the ability of the others

Nope my account is the major account...
It has rights to everything. I cant download the browser...
Hense the problem ^_^ :P

i dont understand how it allows others to do it but not you

its entirely possible that you di have an administrators account, but it has been restricted

i always think that a computer should have only one admin account, the rest can have wide priveledges, but its a bit of a pointless exercise having different types of accounts for security purposes if they aint used
