Am I the only person that actually despises musicals? It's what made the South Park movie suck. The only thing worse is Bollywood.

It was tongue-in-cheek musical at it's best, I thought.
Kiss Me, Kate, Guys and Dolls, Les Mis and Chicago (well, that's going by the film alone.) are the only "normal" musicals I like, really. Normally though, I don't really like musicals.
Oh, and The Jungle Book of that counts.

Just seen the Producers tonight and it was soooo amazing! Nathan Lane wasn't in but his understudy was great so it didn't matter. You've just gotta love that show. Completely offensive to absolutely everyone, but so damn' funny!
Keep it gay, keep it gay, keep it gaaaaay...

I think my favourite musical would have to be Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat. I went through a big phase of knowing every song and lyrics, owning the soundtrack, the written lyrics. I'm over it now though:D

i did music theatre grades for years and then i gave it all up for rockschool. I still love musicals and still do the odd song (and i've been asked to do some parts in les mis, and chicago by my vocals teacher), but i'd never go back to just doing that.

Personally I find some musicals pretentious, but one I do like is Phantom of the Opera... No, not because of the new film, I saw it years ago...
The musical score is breath taking performed live and the chandeleer falling is wicked. I loved it, it was magical.

Les Mis and Phantom of the Opera both went right over my head, didn't follow them at all. But then I'm a bit challenged in the brain cells area... ;)
I like Fame a lot. And Grease. oh yes. That's about all my intellect can cope with.

Les Miserables
Definately my favourite, we did a production of it at school once and it was amazing. We had to run the show for a week because it was soo popular and people came to see it like three times!
