I find it difficult to spell. I have been trying to make my self spell new words. I succesfuly do it sometimes, then I forget later on. Does anyone know any good techniques? As it really shows me up and I get called thick all of the time. Thanks.

I think the phonetic method is quite useful, like if you sound out "successfully" you can hear the double c, but it doesn't solve how many s's and ls you need later on, so sometimes it's actually easier to sit and learn rules and even certain specific spellings by rote. Sure it's dull, but it works.

suc-ces-sful-ly....;) :p
My english teacher many years ago, taught me how to spell 'necessary' - her rule was "One Collar, 2 Sleeves... as in, one C, 2 s's..." I've always remembered it!

*chuckles* My point was supposed to be, that instead of learning new words, get the ones you already can't spell right. Perhaps my second point should be that you're not the only one who can't spell for toffee.
