Sore and itchy

I have recently become sore and itchy downstairs. Which became particularly sore when i used soap 2 wash (and i have changed my soap powder recently).
i am dreading it being an STI but i have only ever had sex with my boyf of 3 years and the only way to explain it would be if he has cheated on me.
Could this be thrush?

yeah, it could be thrush, or it could be a reaction to the soap. or both. what fun.

switch back to your original soap/washing powder. if it doesn't clear up, see a doctor.

if the doctor says it's an STI, slap your boyfriend. ;)

To address your problem seriously now - it could be a reaction to your new soap powder. Stop using it.

Also, there isn't really any need to use soap on your bits, just so long as you wash well with water. If you really do want to use a shower gel or something find a fragrance free one, preferably PH balanced.

If it doesn't clear up in a few days make an appointment with your GP. :-)

Sounds like thrush (http://www.thesite.org/youthnet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=135&a=520) but our private parts can also be v sensitive to certain soapy substances. Thrush is very common - in fact, don't be embarrassed to have a private chat with a pharmacist about it and try out some cream like Canesten. If the problem persists then go see your GP.
