Take the test (http://www.personalitytype.com/quiz.asp), might help you understand personality profiles a bit more.

I have a Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving (http://www.typelogic.com/enfp.html) personality type.

I might be wrong, but It sounds like its just a personality type, not a disease or a flaw which requires correcting.

IMO these personality things are bollocks anyway. it seems like people use them so they can get away with acting like a dick and then say 'oh, i can't help it, i'm a BFG' or 'i'm an STFU, it's just the way i am'.

Yeah, exactly - it's just like saying 'I can't help being like this because I'm me...'

Sounds a bit like your girlfriend wants a complicated syndrome to give herself so she can feel special. And you saying 'ISTP is affecting my relationship' is basically saying 'my girlfriend's personality is affecting my relationship'. Not good.

ISFP
(Introvert, Sensor, Feeler, Perceiver)

How to Love an ISFP

* Be a patient and supportive listener; make it safe for me to speak my mind.

* Appreciate my gentle, nurturing nature and ability to find joy in simple pleasures.

* Express your love and affection freely and often!

* Demonstrate your devotion in thoughtful actions.

* Try not to nag me about order, or force decisions too quickly.

* Above all - Show me you love me exactly the way I am.

Ok, I took the test:

Life as an ENFP
(Extravert, Intuitive, Feeler, Perceiver)

People of this type tend to be: enthusiastic, talkative, and outgoing; clever, curious, and playful; deeply caring, sensitive, and gentle; highly innovative, creative, optimistic, and unique; adaptable and resourceful but sometimes disorganized.

The most important thing to ENFPs is freedom to see possibilities, make connections, and be with a variety of people.

This doesn't mean I'm going to go about using it as an excuse for my bad traits. :p

Personality tests are bollocks. Online personality tests trebly so.

youre all lucky, you got all posh initial-ly personality types.
Mine just said I was an artisan.

Yes, mine said I was an Idealist. Hmm. It also said I'm capable of getting lost between the door and the car because I'll wander off in a dream. It's lies I tell you.

I'm an Extravert, Intuitive, Thinker, Perceiver... Hrm.

People of this type tend to be: friendly, charming, and outgoing; quick-witted, energetic, and irreverent; ingenious, imaginative, and creative; curious, flexible, and unpredictable; logical and analytical.

The most important thing to ENTPs is being creative, seeing possibilities, and always having new challenges.

Bollocks... but ok to ass time.

hmmm it seems i'm an INFP

(Introvert, Intuitive, Feeler, Perceiver)

People of this type tend to be: quiet, reserved, and kind; deeply passionate, sensitive, and easily hurt; loving and dedicated to those close to them; creative, original, and imaginative; curious and flexible in small matters; nonconforming.

The most important thing to INFPs is their deeply held beliefs and living in harmony with their values.

which scarily seem a lot like me.....

like they said, this is baseless bollocks. Mental health problems have been homogenised to the point where every fucker thinks they are the subject of some cognitive abnormality.

for example. this idea completely flips the validity of the condition you just described.

The Double Hermeneutic (http://csc.sagepub.com/cgi/content/refs/4/1/28)

seriously, we spend enough time worrying about what we are thinking WITHOUT having to consider what others think of what we are thinking:confused:

I have to agree.

That "ISTP" thing seems like a convenient excuse to not take responsibility for ones actions and gain sympathy while at it.

HOWEVER

while this particular one might be rubbish, mental health is one area in which you have to tread extremely lightly and not jump beyond the bounds of your knowledge

That "ISTP" thing seems like a convenient excuse to not take responsibility for ones actions and gain sympathy while at it.

case in point: they said that about M.E , and if you have ever known anyone with M.E you'll know what im talking about.

(anyone who uses the term 'yuppie flu' is so ignorant its unbelievable)

No, I don't know anyone with M.E, but I don't think those two can be compared at all.
I've never heard of doctors diagnosing somebody as a certain personality type which this ISTP thing is. Perhaps there really is a problem but whatever it is, I am pretty sure that it is not called "ISTP". More information is needed, otherwise people are given more room to reach their own conclusions based on the little that has been said.

i wasnt comparing the two i was using the case of how M.E used to be viewed as a cautionary tale for pre-judging conditions for which you do not see any immediate or obvious presenting symptoms:confused:

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

And, particularly in the cas eof mental health, all the teen angesters are taking one personality test and deciding that it justifies all their wankerish behaviour and its explains away all their horomonal blues.

If you wnat to believe you are mentally ill, you will apply any vague definiton to yourself. Not that I am bitter or anything, seeing how many people decided they were Borderline after watching Girl, Interrupted  :banghead:

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

lack of obvious presenting symptoms gives some people the impression that they can self-diagnose based up comparisons with other (sometimes fictional) cases.

not helpful and can in itself become problematic.

I can't help it; despite myself I'm intrigued as to the circumstances that led you, Hellfire, to believe that your girlfriend "has" ISTP and it's affecting your relationship. I've got all kinds of weird scenarios running through my head!

Just being nosey really! :D

Kermit

She'll have said "don't hate me, but give me lots of attention because I am ISTP. I'm so depressed, only some attention will help me :crying:"

And Hellfire, loving attention ina ll its forms, will post about it here. Just to remind us he has a girlfriend.
