i for one was not going to stand out in the cold with all the geeks at midnight, no, i'm much too smart to do that... ever been to a 24 hour superstore? yup, acquired the game within 5 minutes of walking in the store, no smelly teenage boys, no heavy breathing just smooth transaction.

i reserve judgement on said game until i've been playing it a few hours, first impressions are good.

don't overhype it... it's good, it's not as amazing as the first though purely because it's essentially more of the same.

some very nice set pieces though and a slight deviation that shouldn't really be in it (pointless side story really).

i'm saying no more though, gonna be having a multiplayer session tomorrow. bring it!

much better at the first one it seems... still getting to grips with the dual wielding, it's still ingrained in my mind that the left trigger is grenade, and it still is unless you've got 2 guns in your hands.

i'm a lot better at fast paced games, this one is a little slower but certainly not as slow as halo was, it's like that on speed... with 2 guns :D

i'm hoping the story improves as i'm slightly less than impressed so far, especially when 'they' turned up again. gtf.

it's very good... nowhere near perfect though, too many minor faults and details to be a certain 10/10.

The only faults i've noticed so far is in the graphics, which is annoying because the graphics are brilliant.

And not a fault, but something i don't like, the grunts are not cute anymore! They still sound cute but they don't look it :( Ah well at least I can kill them without feeling guilty.

What other faults are their? I haven't played much yet.

oooo i played it for 3 hours straight yesterday - game kicks arse.... a little downfall is how long it takes to load a shotgun... damn it took ages.. and i played it on normal yesterday just to see whether it was hard or not and it was piss easy i thought... cant wait to get xbox live :nervous:

i'd give this game a 9/10 as i dont play that many games but love halo.... i still prefer the first one, but give it a week and i'll love the second one even more....

i did 6 levels yesterday and it seemed so easy... did anyone else play single mode yesterday? how far did you get?

and princessamy, i like san andreas to but halo is much more better and more advanced than san andreas i think....

My brohter noticed that and pointed it out to me, it is a bit disappointing but not the end of the world... and have you noticed the grunts talk english a lot more too... its all alot more clearer...

I bunked off college yesterday to play a 9-way LAN match at a mates house, Was great apart from... The guns.

They have been changed for the worse, The 'SMG' is ok I suppose but its nothing compared to the old pistol, and now all the weapons have the same (quite pathetic) Melee attack, which doesnt seem to do as much damage as in Halo.

Oh and the new additions to the Blood Gulch level... Not the best ever.

Overall, still 9/10.

thing was the pistol was WAAAAAAAY too powerful in the first game, 3 headshots and you were toast... compare that to the sniper rifle which took 2 shots... a handgun versus a sniper rifle, a gun designed to shoot things up to a couple of miles away.

you see why they had to tone it down.

i'll agree about the melee attacks though, i'm glad they reduced the range on them as it did seem a little long but the animations are a bit shit, the old needler animation had you whooping them in the face with the spikes! this one don't.

blood gulch though, glad they changed it... there's more cover now as let's face it, it's a pure sniper map, if you didn't have a sniper rifle you were pretty much fucked. again it's more evened out, can only be a good thing.

A mate has brought round his 'box and Halo2, so I'm playing through the Single player game.

Loving the Elite missions, A few of the alien weapons are pretty nice; Like that Sentinal Cannon (In gold or silver lol) and the Alien Sniper Rifle.

it really wasn't that bad up until that point, but that made me lose any interest i had in the story.
stupidest plot twist in the history of plot twists (and yes that includes dallas).

My theory on the story:

Halo was created by 'The Flood', The covonant are mearly stealing all their weapons and using them to destroy all the humans because they own.

And Master Cheif is actually an Elite :p

i'm not an expert on the story (just picked things up, but here's what i have:

there's at least 5 halos, the 'forerunners' created the rings to cleanse the galaxy (it's a BIG fucking gun) of the flood in the event of them escaping the ring (don't remember a mention of where the flood came from).

when you go back to set off halo (before you realise it's a gigantic weapon) 343 guilty spark refers to you firstly as 'the reclaimer' which is odd seeing as you've never met the little robot chappie... it seems the halo has been visited or set off before by someone looking remarkably like you.

i can't remember who unleashes the flood in the first instance (the first halo game)... the covenant believe halo is sacred and kick your ass for having visited, there's little to say they know it's actually a weapon capable of destroying life in the galaxy (though they obviously do in halo2).

the flood are a kind of virus, their form is that of the little squid creatures that take over 'host' bodies and mutate them.

master chief is human, an exceptional one at that, kidnapped as a young boy by the military (and replaced by a clone) he was trained to be a killer from young alongside a number of other children (again, kidnapped) then artificially enhanced and put into armour based on convenant designs (don't remember where they got this info from though!).

the story is highly messed up, in some parts it's very good but it often gets confused in itself and a lot of things are left either unknown or slightly contradictory.

go read 'the fall of reach'... it's the backstory on where the Spartans came from (master chief being one of them).

i had this game for the xbox when it hit the internet about a month ago and to be honest i havnt even played it.
Its over hyped and shit give me UT2004 any day as for half life 2 omg that will blow i know it. First half life was the daddy matching that will not work
