It's really cold these days that I've been putting my running off; using the excuse, I don't want to go out in the cold. Due to this, I am seriously slacking behind in my fitness. I'm even getting me gut back... haha

Anyways, I'm been considering taking a fitness class but don't know which. Was looking at Boxercise as I've never done anything like that before and it looks like fun.

Though has anyone done it before? Is it really any good to help tone me up, etc? Or is it just one of those classes that keeps ya just 'reasonably' fit?

Never heard of that course before but if its basically boxing training without the fighting bit then it should be pretty good. Boxing is a pretty intense sport in terms of fitness so it should be better than running imo but thats really just a guess cos I don't know what the ocurse is about.

I used to do boxercise once a week, really enjoyed it. It was hard work though. A mixture of circuits and punching with aerobics. Good to get aggression out.

Boxing is in my opinion one of the best all round exercises, punching a heavy bag is as tyring (or can be) as runing full tilt.

I did real boxing for 2 years, heavy bag work is good for shoulders and arm strength and of course fitness.

Good for balence and coordination if your punching one of the speed bags of smaller bags,

So I dont know about boxersise but it sounds like a good idea better than step areobics anyway,

The other thing Id say is I bet if your doing bag work they dont teach you how to punch properly of have your feet right or to keep your guard up, so dont think its real boxing you need to be punched and shouted at for that.

I really miss not doing boxing anymore. Was really rewarding fitness wise and kept you motivated. *sniff and i've lost a lot of my upper body strength from not doing it as well. I found it definitely better than running fitness wise. Although we used to do a run before training to warm up.

Boxercise is basically an aerobic workout with boxing movements e.g. move forward, jab left jab right etc. They make a routine out of the different punches and stuff.

Cruel2Bkind - Should be good for your fitness as it might not be as heavy on the workout side as boxing but it'll still a good workout if you've been letting your fitness slide a bit. (warning, be prepared to ache after the first couple of times :D )

Well I phoned up my local leisure centre and was told the classes were cancelled. Kinda gutted over that. So I'm looking for other places that do it, without it costing me too much.

Does look like fun, which is what I need. Cause running use to bore the hell out of me. I need something different to keep me interested whilst giving me the energy boost that I need.

What about martial arts classes or kick boxing?

Do you like any sports? eg netball, etc. Or you could do aerobics?
